Coast Artillery installations were mostly harbor defenses and were stationed at a fort or fortified gun emplacements.
Brigade headquarters for brigades of army artillery were the same for units of railway artillery and for units of motorized army artillery.
Heavy artillery mobile ordnance repair shops furnished the means for making repairs to the materiel of the units of the brigade that could be made locally and which were of a minor character.

Training for the amphibious landing portion of the operation began in June of '42 in Chesapeake Bay, as the North Carolinian coast (where it was originally planned to be held at) was potentially too dangerous due to submarine attacks in the Atlantic.
Blackstone involved the landing of the 47th Infantry, 9th Division; 2 reinforced battalions of the 67th Armored Regiment, 2d Armored Division; elements of the 70th Tank Battalion, and several artillery batteries.
The sub-taskforce was composed of the 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division; the 1st Battalion, 66th Armored Regiment, 2d Armored Division; elements of the 70th Tank Battalion (Separate); and seven coast artillery batteries.

With three airfields in their hands and no signs of a counterattack, the Japanese commanders decided to move the entire regiment down the west coast and join up with the main forces of the XIV Army that were to land on the beaches of Lingayen Gulf.
The XLVIII Division, the IX Infantry Regiment, four artillery regiments with 75-mm, 105-mm, 150-mm guns and 150-mm howitzers, two tank regiments with 80/100 tanks, and a large number of service and special troops were put ashore on the north coast of Lingayen Gulf.
The 60th was credited with shooting down at least 25 aircraft during this six-day period but the record does not tell the complete story.

The 60th Coast Artillery (AA) (60th CA), during the World War II era, was part of USAFFE's Harbor Defenses of Manila and Subic Bays, under the Philippine Coast Artillery Command.
This anti-aircraft unit was to provide air defense over Manila Bay and the southern tip of the Bataan Peninsula.
The 60th CA was equipped with 3-inch guns (an older model with a vertical range of 8,200 m), 37mm guns,.50-caliber machine guns, and 60-inch Sperry searchlights.

The unit was formed in March 1901 as the 10th Brigade Royal Horse Artillery, consisting of D Bty in Umballa, India and E Bty in Kirkee, India, being renamed 3rd Brigade Royal Horse Artillery, in October 1906.
In 1939 G Battery left to serve in 5th Regiment Royal Horse Artillery and DD Battery was formed to replace it as part of the re-organisation of the Royal Artillery after Dunkirk, in October 1941.
Regiment (TA), consisting of 209th and 210th (East Lancashire) Batteries served with the BEF (British Expeditionary Force) in France in 1940, in the 42nd (East Lancashire) Division, along side the 51st Field Regiment, and was evacuated at Dunkirk.

On the morning of July 11th the 2nd Battalion, 2nd SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment of the Leibstandarte, supported by the 13th Company's Tigers and divisional assault guns, resumed their advance, pushing on towards Hill 252.2, with the objective of clearing the hill and the farm of the Soviet defenders.
The tank regiment included a company of seven KV tanks, a company of 22 T-34 tanks, and the remainder of the unit was filled out with whatever light tanks were available.
On 10 January, NKO ordered that a mortar regiment and an assault gun be added to the tank corps TO&E. In March, the AA batteries of the brigades were consolidated in a corps AA battalion of sixteen 37mm guns.

Private First Class Skabicki was serving in the Philippine Islands at the outbreak of the war, with Headquarters Company of the 60th Coast Artillery Regiment at Fort Mills, on Corregidor.
The AA shells lacked proper fuses, as did many of the 155mm artillery shells.
