The Anzac Mounted Division, advancing to the east against Jemmameh, had less success and did not manage to capture their objective until 9 November when it was reached by the 3rd Light Horse Regiment.

In November 1917 it was assigned to the 5th Infantry Division and quickly underwent its baptism of fire in the fierce warfare on the Western Front.

The Hispanic Foundation (now Hispanic Division) was established July 1, 1939, by the Library to serve as a global center for research in Luso-Hispanic studies and to collect materials as widely as possible in history and culture.
