The 64 began its design life in January of 1981 when MOS Technology engineers decided they needed a new chip project.
Because the 64 had such a huge percentage of the market, it was a primary beneficiary of this innovation.
Some have argued that the 64 was also the cause of this innovation; millions of high school age C64 programmers with nothing but time and desire created thousands of pieces of software that they had no retail outlet for.

However, Interstate 64 south of Interstate 664 is signed as part of the Hampton Roads Beltway (Interstates 64 and 664), and it is easier to describe direction of travel as "inner" (clockwise) or "outer" (counterclockwise).
Under their plan, Interstate 64 would be realigned onto Interstate 265 in Indiana and Interstate 265 in Kentucky via the proposed West End Bridge, which is planned to connect the two sections of Interstate 265 in the two states.
Interstate 64 terminates at the western terminus of Interstate 264 and southern terminus of Interstate 664.

Proposition 64: Limits on Private Enforcement of Unfair Business Competition Laws
Proposition 64 aims to limit the individual’s right to sue under the California Unfair Business Competition Law to claims that the individual was actually injured by, and suffered financial/property loss because of, an unfair business practice.
Spearheading the campaign for Proposition 64 is the Civil Justice Association of California, a coalition of citizens, taxpayers, businesses, local governments, professionals, manufacturers, financial institutions, insurers, and medical organizations opposed to wasteful lawsuits.
The opponents of Proposition 64 claim that these cases all involved serious abuses of the public interest, and would be far less likely to be pursued under the strictures of Proposition 64.

AMD boosts Athlon 64 performance | CNET News.com
As expected, the new 128-bit dual-channel memory controller increases the performance of the Athlon 64 line, boosting the model numbers from 3400+ to 3800+, for instance.
Because the Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 FX chips both come in 939-pin packages, they can use the same motherboards, which makes it easier for PC makers to create desktop lines that offer both chips, AMD said.
The Athlon 64 3800+, for instance, runs at the same clock speed and includes the same amount of Level 2 cache as does AMD's latest Athlon 64 3400+, but it garners a higher model number.

The main feature of Athlon 64 architecture is the memory controller, which is embedded in the processor itself and not located on the chipset like all other CPUs.
Because of this architecture the communication between the CPU and the memory modules is done thru a dedicated memory bus, while the communication between the CPU and the chipset uses a separated bus, HyperTransport (click here to read our tutorial on HyperTransport).
Their memory controller is dual channel, meaning that the CPU accesses memory at 128-bit rate, if two memory modules (or an even number of memory modules) are used.
