Beginning with the 18th dynasty (about 1540 BCE) the regnal years were begun on the actual day on which the king came to power.
This style was used until the 26th dynasty (about 660 BCE), when the former method came into use again.

 Gebel Barkal - The Setting
Until the early third century BCE, the same oracle was even said to inform the king by letter of the moment when his reign should end, ordering him to commit suicide.
The veracity of this tradition is suggested by the fact that until the third century BCE, the kings traveled the 230km from Meroë to Napata for burial in pyramids erected for them across the river from Gebel Barkal at Nuri.
In 24 BCE, Napata was attacked, plundered, and razed to the ground by a Roman army.

During the last phase of construction, six concentric steps or terraces of chalk were created which were then covered over with chalk, rubble, flints, gravel, and lastly soil, to form a cone-shaped mound.
In 1776 and 1849 the summit was excavated a second and third time, and Richard Atkinson carried out a "dig" in 1967 when he was working in the area, but he was unable to learn anything about the mound or why it was created.
There was also some evidence that construction of the mound had begun in early August, probably around the time of Lammas and the Celtic festival of "Lugnasadh" which marks the beginning of the harvest season.

Because 7400 BCE currently represents the longest continuous tree-ring series: carbon-14 in the atmosphere fluctuates from year to year, and without tree ring samples, that fluctuation cannot be precisely determined.
Accordingly, Chinese dates earlier than the ninth century BCE that are not supported by archeological data should be treated with suspicion, and all dates that are not supported by external data should be treated with caution.
Be that as it may, while Homer attributed the causes of the Trojan War to the wrath of Achilleus and the beauty of Helen, modern scholars usually attribute it to trade disputes and generic conflagration-era battles between infantry and charioteers.
