Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
666 was produced by Hiili Hiilesmaa, who also produced their EP 666 Ways to Love: Prologue.
Like that EP, this album was recorded at Finnvox, MD and Peacemakers in Helsinki, Finland.
A special Digipak version of the album was also released with "For You" moved to the first track.

666 by Aphrodites Child (lyrics & reviews)
It is remarkable to consider when listening to '666', Greek band Aphrodite's Child's third and final LP, that prior to it's release they were a huge draw on the 'Europop' circuit of the late 60s/early 70s with top ten hits across the continent.
In fact it is an epic, double concept album concerned with the book of Revelations from the Bible, and it succeeds utterly in conveying the gothic horror of the stories told therein.
Whatever, '666' is an early 70s rock curio, an all too often overlooked masterpiece that is definitely worthy of investigation and adulation by all fans of 'dark' prog.

Compare Prices and Read Reviews on 666 - Hyde at Epinions.com   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-02)
It was during this time that Hyde released 2 albums, Roentgen and 666, while Tetsu went off to form Tetsu69, Ken formed S.O.A.P., and Yukihiro worked with Acid Android.
But Hyde certainly deserves the attention because the albums he released were each excellent in their own right, differing from each other immensely but brilliant all the same.
This is quite a heavy song, probably the heaviest on the album, with Hyde drawing out his words, singing normally, and sometimes sounding like he is pleading.

Vangelis, Costas Ferris and Aphrodite's Child - The story of the album: 666 (The apocalypse of John. 13/18)
The album 666 by Aprhodite's Child is one of the most superb Art-Rock works of all time, combining progressive Rock with crucial concept themes.
Costas Ferris wrote a concept book for the "666" album: Saint John’s "Revelation" (The Apocalypse as they call it in Greek), and this subject had to be seen through the culture of the sixties.
The album "666" was ahead of its time and some of the themes were very unusual.

Vorfeed's B.M. Reviews - Destroyer 666 - Phoenix Rising   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-02)
On this album, they've refined their art a bit- the solos are much better than on "Unchain the Wolves", and the lyrics (those that are printed, at least) are quite brilliant.
Most of the songs on this album are a bit faster than those on their earlier albums, though this album has a lot of variety.
The only negative point to this album is the production- it's a bit too clear and crisp for me. An album this heavy would have been better served with a grittier sound, more like that on "Unchain the Wolves".

 APHRODITE'S CHILD 666 reviews and MP3
This album was recorded in 1970, but the folks at Mercury seems to not like the content of the album (the label felt that because of some of the content, it wouldn't sell).
"666" is simultaneously disturbing and funny, spacey and primitive, retro and timeless, sacred and profane- and much less pretentious sounding than you'd guess.
However it's true it is very hard to listen this album at once, maybe is the seductive concept or the difference of the sound of this album.

 Aphrodite's Child - 666
At the end of 1970 a conceptual album, based on the a part of the New Testament, The Apocalypse of St. John is conceived by Vangelis and Costas Ferris.
The entire album takes over a year to complete, and when it is finally ready for release, the band has already split up, with all members working on solo albums...
Then Mercury, the band's record label adds to the troubles by objecting to the specific content of the album, and although Vangelis refuses to remove offending tracks (such as 'oo' Infinity), the album is brought back to the released issue of 80 minutes.

 "ELSEWHERE": Aphrodite's Child
This album was not available on CD until recently when Polygram Greece finally released it.
One of the reasons for this was a remark on the album's sleeve stating that the album was recorded under the influence of "Sahlep", which was interpreted as being either a drug or a demon.
The album is still regarded as a classic in the progressive rock genre, being covered and sampled by present day artists, and appearing in popular magazines' top 10 lists.

In 2003, the band released their fourth full-length album title Love Metal, which was well received by the United States media, in particular Kerrang magazine and also the Rolling Stone magazine.

Progressive Rock Music Discography (Albums, DVDs Videos and compilations), MP3 and album reviews
For example the track Infinity (sign that can’t be reproduced with a PC keyboard) outside of the album means nothing except a woman having an orgasm, but in the context of the album makes sense because the Book of Revelation makes various references to the prostitute that tempted the kings.
The album ends with the only ballad named Break, which sounds to me as a Roussos contribution, not a filler, but not necessary either, because IMHO 666 would have ended perfectly with the wonderful “All the Seats Were Occupied”
There was even a boycott by several radio stations, and when the album was finally released by Vertigo (the adventurous face of Mercury), the band was separate for two years.

Get Ready to ROCK! Review of CD album by metal rock band Helltrain called Route 666
That’s kind of what happened to me with the first album of the new Swedish band, Helltrain, the members of which have been around for a while, dabbling in various projects and bands, like The Everdawn and Scheitan.
Anyway, to get back to my point: ‘Route 666’ is illustrated with the back of a big, fast American car (my limited knowledge of such things doesn’t allow me to identify it, but I’ll hazard a guess that it’s a Mustang!) which got me thinking: ‘obviously Stoner Rock’.
This is true, but there is definitely a very Swedish sound underlying the whole concept of ‘Route 666’, as well as a few dashes of keyboards here and there and some pop melodies thrown in for good measure.

New Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock AM-AQ
There are twelve pieces on this album in all, and the most interesting tracks (from the standpoint of progressiveness) are from 2 to 5, though, on the whole, this album is full of exceptionally original melodies.
While most tracks on their self-titled album are based on the combination of acoustic guitar, various flutes and vocals (in English), the arrangements tend to vary, thanks to the contribution of numerous guests on violins, oboe, clarinet, percussions, bass, choir, piano, etc. As a rule though, the sound remains light, natural and essentially acoustic.
This album is a finely-crafted balancing act between listener-friendly 1980s rock sound and timeless weirdness, and the fact that twenty years later it sounds both the product of its time and utterly relevant still, attests its success.
