The Model 680S automatic embossed tape forming machine has been designed and built with high volume production in mind - it is the fastest system available today with a throughput of more than 600 meters/hour per track and is rugged, efficient and very cost effective.
The 680S operates with the highest forming accuracy using a "match metal forming" process; sprocket holes are also punched during forming.
In addition, the Model 680S is very versatile and can process various tape widths with a simple tooling change (change time is less than 1 hour).
09-17-2003 09:34 PM I forgot to mention the sound adjustment knob for the 680s is really weird, its kinda hard to understand if you have not seen these in action.
What you have is a little LCD screen with a small bargraph thats move a small tick as you move the adjustment knob.
Forgot to mention this earlier, but be aware of the Megaworks bad histroty of faulty or distorted amps.
I haven't actually tried this on my 680s but I've talked to a couple of owners who have performed the all mode squelch mod and reports are that it works fine.
Remove the 680's top cover (careful with speaker lead), remove 4 screws holding the PA and LPF Filter unit and swing the assembly over to the left of the radio, you will now have access to the SIGNAL UNIT board.
There are also some minor faults with the 680S that have shown up over the years like transmitter bias getting to high and AM/FM receive appearing a little off frequency plus a couple of others, all are easily fixed and I'll place more on these items with time permitting...
It definitely doesn't get much louder than the 680s while still speaking strictly about computer speakers, although it won't be too much louder than the 560s.
But if you're looking for the cleanest bass possible, you're gonna be looking at spending good money for home-theater quality speakers, not to mention the pre-amp/processor and amp (if you want decent mids and highs to match the bass).
You sort of have to make a choice based on what holds you back, if money limits you then your 560s (or the 680s) are a good choice, but if money's not a limit then by all means go with something like a Klipsch home-theater system.
Probably rolling off at about 175Hz, so that is something that your subwoofer would have to handle, and the fact that bass is localizable down to around 100Hz would mean that you'd have from 100HZ to 175Hz of sound coming from your sub that you'd be able to hear.
What might be of better interest is that you could use other speakers connected to the 680's.
So you could upgrade the satellites to a better bookshelf speaker and really pump up the performance of the 680's.
Well, I have the Klipsch and my friend just recently got the the 680s.
I haven't messed with his much, but from what I can tell, the 680s do have more power, but is seems to me that the klipsch are better in the bass, but I staill can't figure on the hi's and mid's.
If there is a review of the 680s, they may mention the Klipsch, but there is very much actual comparison.
Mac Forums - For the love of GOD, don't buy the logit. z-680s!!!(Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
This system seemed so perfect...I guess i'll have to go back to the sound sticks or something like that...
12-19-2002, 10:50 AM I was considering the expensive 680's, but ended up going with the less expensive (and better looking) Z-640s.
I'm not really an audiofile (unless you count the $1K audio system in my Jetta), but I'm very happy with them and recommend them to anyone who wants a good set of speakers.
