Entry forms must be received by the Academy by 1 November, and prints of the film by 18 November.
The rules in the Foreign Language Film category are the same as last year and to be eligible for consideration, films must have had their first public showing in a commercial theatre in its home country between 1 November 1995 and 31 October, 1996.

I can't decide which annoyed me more: a performance of "That Thing You Do," lip-synched badly by a passel of brats (who, I'm guessing were plucked out of some cheesy high school show choir), or a puzzling farce that unnecessarily combined the Lord of the Dance troupe and a demonstration of film editing.
Of course, you can't talk about the Academy Awards without some mention of who wore what.
