		It was the means by which farmers could listen in to station 6WF which was established in Perth by that company.
		Their reception was centred on 6WF, the sole local station whose wavelength was 1250 m.
		The transmitter for 6WF was located on the Westralian Farmers Limited building in Wellington Street Perth with the studios in the top floor of that building.

	Early radios celebrated as 6WF turns 80 :: ABC Perth
		6WF commenced broadcasting on June 4, 1924, and was operated by Westralian Farmers Ltd. in order to provide information and entertainment to the rural community.
		When 6WF changed over from long-wave to medium-wave transmission, the station broadcast on both frequencies.
		During that time you could listen to 6WF in stereo - all you needed was two radio sets.

	Australian Longwave Broadcasters
		Over in Perth, Western Australia, station 6WF was granted a longwave broadcasting license and it remained the longest on longwave, a total of 5 years.
		It should also be remembered that station 6WF was associated with shortwave experimental broadcasting back in the early days.
		Station 6WF was later taken over by the ABC, and subsequently three shortwave transmitters were installed.

		David and Eoin in 1971 and Susannah as a novice in 1974 - two weeks later she was broadcasting on Christmas Day - the day Cyclone Tracy flattened Darwin.
		David Hawkes first joined the ABC in 1962 in Brisbane and after some time in the commercial wilderness came over to 6WF and became a favourite announcer on Breakfast and finally in the newsroom.
		Susannah Carr became the first female news announcer on television as well as announcing on radio and is now the much loved face of Channel 7 news.

		She moved to the commercial talk station Radio 6PR in 1984 as producer of the Sattler File current affairs program, before joining the ABC in 1986 as a current affairs producer on 720 6WF, the ABC metropolitan radio station in Perth.
