Interestingly, the main character eventually seems to accept the use of cloning technology to recreate pets (which he originally resisted), again suggesting that such a technology as cloning may have a place if it is not misused.

 DVD Review: The 6th Day
Although "The 6th Day" didn't particularly do the kind of business that was expected of it, the film showed at least a strong-step in the right direction as Arnold joined with respected director Roger Spottiswoode ("Tomorrow Never Dies") and a strong supporting cast including Robert Duvall.
VIDEO: "The 6th Day" is presented in the film's original 2.35:1 aspect ratio and the often breathtaking visual look of the movie is presented quite well with Tristar's impressive anamorphic transfer.
Overall, "the 6th Day" is more of the usual from Tristar, a studio who continues its reputation of providing excellent image quality for their DVD efforts.

Because these genres (of which 6th Day is a blend) explore these premises, they generally do not attempt to meet the expectations of other genres.
Indeed, the family relationships and genuine suspense in 6th Day, as well as certain horror elements (Drucker's metamorphosis), are welcome mixings of other genres which enhance the film.

Even if the parts can some day be assembled in a lab, God is still the only one who will ever be able to put life to a being.
Because of some inappropriate sexual content (involving a hologram), bad language, and over-the-top violence, I can't recommend "The 6th Day." But I can agree with its worldview that violating God's plan for human life is always evil.

Just a decade ago, Arnold Schwarzenegger ruled the multiplex with top-of-the-line pics like "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." The Austrian Oak and his monosyllabic brethren — including Steven Seagal and Jean-Claude Van Damme — pumped out high-powered testosterone flicks and raked in the loot.

 6Th Day - Movie Review
Underneath "The 6th Day's" Schwarzenegger schmaltz of expensive explosions, showpiece stunts and utterly extraneous jet-helicopter chases, there's an intelligent cautionary thriller about science run amuck which has been trampled to death.
Taking place in a future that is "sooner than you think" -- a high-gloss world of virtual girlfriends, self-driving cars and illegal cloning -- the plot is basically a rehash of "Total Recall" in which Arnold plays a seemingly average joe whose life is turned upside-down by the cogs of a giant conspiracy.
But the few glints of promise in "The 6th Day" are lost in the blinding flash of Hollywood overproduction.

For a movie about cloning, it's only appropriate that The 6th Day, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, is instilled with a strong sense of déjà vu, namely from Arnold's previous "Who am I?" outing, Total Recall.
What distinguishes The 6th Day is its sneaky, humorous--and chilling--look at the near future, taking everyday technological advances and turning them up just a couple notches, envisioning an era with cloned pets, virtual girlfriends, and computers running most everything, from the refrigerator to your car.
Arnold is supposed to be a throwback to the "real" world--you can tell because he cherishes his vintage, navigation-system-free Cadillac--but as usual, he just brings his behemoth presence to the role and not much else.

With the dismal failure of End of Days, Arnold went back to his roots in the sci-fi thriller The 6th Day.
Nonetheless, the music in the film was composed by Trevor Rabin, who provided the right amount of tension, action, and heart.
Beginning with "The Sixth Day", one of the many strong themes in the score, makes an appearance with a slight variation to give it an almost "otherworldly" (almost Middle-Eastern) flare.

Rabin opens his score with the track "The 6th Day." The track opens with some low electronic rumblings and a wordless, Arabic (?) voice providing the introduction to one of the film's main themes.

"The 6th Day" occupies the opposite end of the cloning continuum from "The Boys from Brazil." The latter, the 1978 film made from Ira Levin's novel, had Dr. Joseph Mengele trying to successfully clone Adolf Hitler.
He implanted dozens of clone embryos (or embryo clones?) of Hitler in the younger wives of older men and because nurture is as important as nature he is going to systematically murder the "fathers" around their 65th birthdays.
Well, that is all moot in "The 6th Day," because in the futuristic world of this 2000 film as long as you get your aforementioned beloved dog or cat to the people at RePet within the window of opportunity they can make a "syncording" of your pet's mind.

Recent scientific advancements lend credibility to the not-so-improbable events vividly dramatized in The 6th Day, a sci-fi thriller that returns Arnold Schwarzenegger to the genre that made him a box-office monster.
The 6th Day offers Arnold’s fans plenty of action, albeit of a less lethal variety than found in some of his previous vehicles, while raising some interesting questions about the morality of cloning-on-demand.
The 6th Day is not in the same league with the great Schwarzenegger films such as Total Recall and Terminator 2, but it's a well-crafted entertainment containing enough ideas to qualify it as science fiction and not just as a futurist thriller.
