704 Hauser - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
704 Hauser was a short-lived CBS television series in 1994.
It was a spin-off of All in the Family (the last of many) and was built around the concept of an African-American family, the Cumberbatches, moving into the former Queens home of Archie Bunker years after Bunker had sold the house.
Lear felt that the time was right for a new show to explore some of the issues being discussed, and 704 Hauser was even more explicitly political than All in the Family.

When I heard the premise for 704 Hauser I knew it to be a bad one.
"704 Hauser" jumped from day one, the prime reason was "same actor, different character." Specifically, I'm talking about John Amos.
To add insult to injury, Lear reopened Archie's castle to a cast of characters who are quite obviously polar opposites of the Bunkers and the Stivics in one last desperate attempt to cash in on the popularity of the original and regain the influence he once enjoyed in television circles.
