The 730th Air Mobility Squadron is a unit of the 715th Air mobility Operations Group, based at Hickam AFB, HI.
The 630th Air Mobility Squadron was one of Air Mobility Command's primary Pacific hubs for air traffic.

The facility which houses Yokota Air Base was originally constructed by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1940 as Tama Airfield, and used as a flight test center.
During the Korean War it was used for B-29 missions, and during the Vietnam War it was used for ferrying B-52s to Southeast Asia.
In 1971 all combat squadrons were transferred to Kadena AFB and Misawa AFB.

The 18th FBG and its tactical squadrons (2nd SAAF Squadron) with F-51s from early 1951 moved from base to base in South Korea with sod, dirt filled, and damaged runways, and operated separately from the rest of the 18th FBW -- though primary operations were from K-10 Chinhae.
The base was defended by US Army air defense units and these were caught thoroughly napping as the ten or so B-26s came in from the sea at low altitude and made multiple mock bombing and straffing passes on the parked aircraft and fixed base facilities.

Another pioneer of the ASAM course and later a member of the second graduating class was Col. Keith Moncrief, now commander of the 730th Air Mobility Squadron, one of AMC's major en route squadrons located at Yokota Air Base, Japan.
The purpose of IDE is to enhance the professional military competence of Air Force officers through an education program designed to broaden perspectives, increase knowledge and prepare them to assume higher levels of command, staff duties and responsibilities.

Prior to being activated as the 730th AMS, the squadron was designated as the 630th Air Mobility Support Squadron[AMSS].
For the six years previous to the unit's incativation, the 630th AMSS provided fixed, deployed command and control, aerial port, and maintenance required for the United States' Global Reach in the western Pacific.
It was AMC's senior activity at Yokota and it represented other AMC organizations in the Pacific to include operating locations at Fukuoka Airport and Misawa Air Base, Japan, and the Diego Garcia Naval Support Facility.

YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — The achievements of the 730th Air Mobility Squadron were almost too numerous to squeeze on two sides of a unit award nomination application it submitted earlier this year.
AMS crews helped configure an Air Force C-17 cargo plane, fresh on the ground from a repatriation mission in Pyongyang, into an aircraft equipped to evacuate the infant to Texas.
But that mission was only one of many reasons that the squadron was named the best Air Mobility Command overseas for 2000 among 13 AMC units in the Pacific and European theaters.

Pilots and air marshals who asked to remain anonymous told The Washington Times that surveillance by terrorists is rampant, using different probing methods.
