		That 78 RPM record you are holding in your hand can be anywhere between 50 and 100 years old.
		Using a 78 RPM stylus will allow you to play that record because the wider (than an LP) stylus touches the sides of the groove and does not reach the bottom where the debris is.
		Remember that old 78 RPM records were made prior to this standard.

	News From The Arhoolie Foundation
		As of January 1, 2006 we have scanned the labels and digitized all of the 78 rpm recordings produced by over 200 different record labels.
		The digitized copies along with high resolution scans of the 78 labels and the database have been deposited in the UCLA Digital Library and are available on the web at http://digital.library.ucla.edu/frontera/.
		This 78 rpm is the original version of a song that has since been recorded dozens of times, though later versions use the Spanish contraction "del Paso." It was recorded in the Texas border town by the New Jersey-based Victor label, which did field recordings in hotel rooms.

		This initial cataloging of about 14,000 Mexican-American 78 rpm discs (28,000 individual selections), about 16,000 - 45 rpm discs and several thousand LPs, cassettes and CDs in the Arhoolie Foundation's Strachwitz Collection of Mexican and Mexican-American Recordings, was really our first task.
		The firm began in the late 1920s and operated until recently (2003) when it was sold to Warner Entertainment.
		In 1996 the Arhoolie Foundation undertook the cataloging and documenting of the firm's output from 1939 (when they began with catalog release # 1500) after a fire had destroyed their facilities along with all documents and masters - through 1955 or the end of the 78 rpm format.
