ATTN: I propose everyone give 7-Zip a try, it changed my life!
The reason 7zip does such good compression is that it checks larger blocks of the file for recognizable patterns and has a larger library of patterns.
The downside of this is that 7zip uses alot more ram and pagefile than winrar and the compression isnt always better.
Oh, don't get into the 7zip thing with me, I never tried it so I don't know enough about it, I was just pointing out that when something is compressed already, you're not going to be able to do much better.

Can the 7zip file manager work ok on your 7zip file if so it could be a adll or pa problem.
To give no details of how you created it and what version of pa your using and what is contained in the file and not to upload it here for testing is vurtilaly imposible to determin the problem or even how to fix it.
If you have had an issue with that since 7zip was implemented, then you should have reported it and it would have been fixed long time ago.

These zips each hold self-extracting exes (made with 7zip), which cuts down on the download size (as opposed to if it were just zipped - the full would be 2.76 MB, the update 1.76 MB, and the source 633 KB if just zipped).
These zips also each hold self-extracting exes (made with 7zip), which cuts down on the download size (as opposed to if it were just zipped).

7zip is opensource but i think implementing BFS attribs there is BAD idea.
Of course i have to check it yet if 7zip supports additional data with files (maybe if they plan supporting WinFS attribs...), but even then i'm not so sure about that.
I think 7zip is an open-source format - so some developer might be able to do attribute support.

7Zip supports all the usual formats and has its own format (*.7z) which is claimed to offer the highest compression available.
I certainly won't be using 7zip to create zip files - the small improvement in compression is not worth the added inconvenience and delay.
In any case 7zip has won itself a permanent place on my hard drive both for the promise of super compression and the ability to open the occasional rar, tar arj etc.

7Zip is an open-source file archiver, that offers a the highest compression ratio, using the new f 7z format, which delivers compression results that are usually 30-50% better than standard ZIP.
We tested it with a server log file, which compressed with ZIP had a file size of 18 mb and using 7-Zip was reduced to 8 mb (results may vary, depending on file type).
In addition, 7Zip also supports 7z, ZIP, CAB, RAR, ARJ, GZIP, BZIP2, TAR, CPIO, RPM and DEB formats, so it can be used with all popular archive files as well.

7zip is a new compression format which beats by far existing ZIP and RAR compression methods.
For those interested, also consider ZipGenius (also free but not GPL) - it supports the 7-zip format but can also extract RAR and ACE archives (7-zip cannot extract ACE) which may make it more useful to those who download ACE files.
Anything that does not support 7zip nowdays is outdated.
