The 7th Toronto Regiment, RCA traces its historical roots to the Volunteer Incorporated Artillery Company formed in 1813 under the command of Captain Alexander Cameron.
Throughout W.W.II a Reserve regiment was maintained in Toronto to recruit and train replacements for the batteries overseas.
The 7th Toronto Regiment RCA made its reappearance in 1965 when, as a result of the Suttie Commission the 29th Fd, 42nd Med and the 1st Loc Regts were transferred to the supplementary Order of Battle.

Today, all of the field regiments in the Canadian regular army wear the cap badge of the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery; the only Royal Canadian Artillery regiment in the regular army is 4th Air Defence Regiment, with the majority of RCA cap badged units in the militia.

On December 5th, 1837 under the command of Major T. Carfrae the 1st Toronto Artillery Company, as the Volunteer Incorporated Artillery Company had become, put an end to the Mackenzie Rebellion by firing upon Montgomery’s Tavern.
On 1st July 1889 the 9th “Toronto” Field Bty CA, along with the 4th “St. Catharines” Field Bty CA and the 7th “Hamilton” Bty CA formed the 2nd Bde Div of Field Artillery, Canadian Artillery.
As part of that the 209th Fd Bty was formed from members of 9 Bty and conducting its initial training in Toronto before joining the 79th Fd Regt, which sailed along with rest of the Bde to Germany in December of that year.

MacInnis CMM, MSC, CD, and Her Worship Karen Farbridge, Mayor of Guelph, took the salute, for every gunner on parade the greatest honour came as onlookers broke into spontaneous applause as the Regiment marched back to the Armoury.
Guests were entertained with performance from the Dance Band of the 7th Toronto Regiment RCA, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Prince Louise's) Pipes and Drums, Highland Dancers from the Mary Ellen Cann School of Highland Dancing, Jazz Pianist John Zadro and DJ Brad Howell.
The regiment was given the freedom of the city, and the Fenian Brotherhood of Buffalo, New York, attended to apologized for the Fenian Raids of 1866.

I am looking for information on my grandfathers regiment and all the campaigns he was involved in between 1939 and 1945 leading upto the liberation of Bergen Belson, which i believe he was involved in.
If anyone has info on any RCA regiments which served in both theatres this will help in tracking down more info on what 'he did in the war'.
