Having had my 870s now for almost 4 years I was a little apprehensive at first due to the running water sounds on SSB and CW and many times the signals appeared to drop out.
I think that the 870s is a very excellent HF performer, having owned previously an ICOm 735 the 870s works circles around it.
I would rate the 870s around a 4.5 or so now that I've learned how to run the menu which was somewhat lacking in the operators manual and the in depth manual as well.
