 Amazon.ca: Music: 8-Eyed Spy
Lydia Lunch hated 8-eyed spy, which was formed as an alternative to Teenage Jesus and the Jerks and Beirut Slump, and ditched the band right after they had recorded the five studio tracks.
A far more overtly "musical" group than Teenage Jesus & the Jerks (which also featured Lunch and Jim Sclavunos, who switched from bass to drums for the new band), 8 Eyed Spy were no less confrontational.
The live half of the album suffers from the same kind of beyond-lo-fi sound issues as Teenage Jesus & the Jerks, but this is in all other ways a tremendous step up.

 TrouserPress.com :: Romeo Void
A strange blend of unlikely people creating rather unsurprising music, Iyall's solo album was produced by Pat Irwin, once a Lydia Lunch collaborator in 8 Eyed Spy and later a Raybeat.
Never Say Never, a four-song EP co-produced by Ric Ocasek, gained the group significant airplay and sales, leading to the link between San Francisco independent 415 and the CBS megalith.
It's consequently no surprise that a truncated version of "Never Say Never" opens up Benefactor; as it turns out, that song proved to be more of a stylistic mold than might be considered healthy.

A modicum of actual talent and a newfound appreciation for musical forms that predate 1977 inform 8 Eyed Spy's slightly less chaotic music, making this compilation sort of the downtown post-punk equivalent to Trout Mask Replica.
Another chunk of Atavistic's long-overdue retrospective of Lydia Lunch 's highly influential early work, 8 Eyed Spy collects the entire recorded output of Lunch 's second band.

Jim Sclavunos has quite a list of alt-affiliations: Teenage Jesus, Jerks, 8-eyed spy, Panther Burns, Congo Norvell, Cramps, NoWave, Lydia Lunch, Gun Club, Sonic Youth, Gunga Din, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and now Vanity Set.
Billed as a 'psychotropic vision from the underworld' it is in fact way more refreshing than that makes it sound.
Watch out for our upcoming interview with Jim Sclavunos.

 ttgapers.com store - Queen of Siam (Reis) - Lydia Lunch - Product Details
Lydia's lyrics were developing out of the stark, blunted rants that defined her earlier TEENAGE JESUS and 8-EYED SPY projects into something way more ambiguous - and ultimately richer for it.
Queen of Siam was Lydia's first solo release, and, in my opinion, her best.
Lunch's art has been nothing but one prolooooonged whine: crack an ear here.

He's played with Teenage Jesus & the Jerks, Lydia Lunch/8-Eyed Spy, Tav Falco's Panther Burns, the Cramps and Sonic Youth to name just a few, and he is currently with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
The Vanity Set album "Little Stabs of Happiness" is by turns unbelievably beautiful, intense, dark, lush, evocative and cinematic in the vein of Lee Hazelwood, the Velvet Underground, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Tom Waits, Eno, the Scientists, Scott Walker.
The Vanity Set is fronted by Jim Sclavunos, who has been associated with a large slice of American punk, no-wave, indie & experimental rock history.
