Before I went totally vegan, 8th Continent was my favorite soy milk (I know they us Solae and sugar, etc., but it tastes better than any other out there and I'm all about the ethics not so much the health of veganism).
A lot of people are against 8th Continent not just because they were using D3, but also because it is not organic and has added sugar.
Although it is made in my home state, I still would not recommend 8th Continent soymilk even if it is now using D2.

My mention of 8th Continent Soymilk in the last Vegan Spam brought in more letters than any other edition in the past year.
I had heard from a number of people that 8th Continent Soymilk was by far the best, but it was family friends that prompted me to try it.
Recently in our e-mail newsletter, I gave a plug to 8th Continent Soymilk, which a friend had praised as the only soymilk she would drink.

I usually drink SkimPlus or Silk Soymilk [various flavours.] I recently bought the 8th Continent brand; I believe it is a lite, or diet, version, and I know for a fact that it's vanilla.
8th Continent also has a history of using animal-derived ingredients without labeling their products as such and they're one of the few non-organic brands of soy milk out there:

The Vitamin D used in 8th Continent soymilk is Vitamin D3, Cholecalciferol, from wool fat (lanolin).
I am troubled by the fact that the source of the D3 is not CLEARLY listed in the ingredients or that there is not some sort of notice on the label.
It saddens me that turning to soy milk as an alternative, at least in the case of 8th Continent, is not an option.

The best thing about 8th Continent Light Soymilk is the nutrition.
I still prefer the taste of Rice Dream Rice Milk, but I like the low calorie count of 8th Continent Light Soymilk and it's a little cheaper at $3.50 for the half gallon.
Consider me a convert from Silk to 8th Continent...the improved flavor is excellent with cereal, and if you check labels, it has a lower calorie count.

I was at the store today and just for the heck of it decided to look at the ingrediants again on 8th Continent.
I remember last time it had whey or milk solids...but this time I didn't see any and that it was made from soy ingrediants listed only.
Hath not an animal hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions; fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer as a human is? If you prick us do we not bleed?

Vitamin D3 (which is what 8th Continent specifies on their label) is always animal derived.
The only plain soymilk I know of that is non-vegan is 8th Continant, since Sun Soy recently changed to using D2.
There are a number of strawberry flavored soymilks that use caramine as a coloring, but that is all I can think of.
