 Red Cross Red Crescent - 8th May 2004 - Activities
On May 7 a fundraising dinner was hosted by the Rotarians of Johannesburg, at which the four participants of the “Walk for Humanity” were introduced and the patron of the walk, internationally acclaimed singer Yvonne Chaka–Chaka entertained the audience.
The 8 May in Managua, the capital, was marked by a parade of Nicaraguan Red Cross vehicles down the main streets and avenues of the city.
To mark the 8th of May, more than 200 children gathered in one of the largest parks in Bucarest to celebrate the universal message for tolerance and respect for cultural diversity that was disseminated by 181 Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies all over the world on Henry Dunant's birthday.

 Cemetery_S
Redoubt Cemetery is on the west side of the Krithia-Seddel Bahr road, south-west of "The Vineyards", 100 metres along a track flanked by pine trees.
The cemetery was begun by the 2nd Australian Infantry Brigade in May 1915 and continued in use until the evacuation.
It was greatly increased after the Armistice when the battlefields were cleared and graves were brought in from small cemeteries in the vicinity.

When Wade’s 8th rejoined Wheeler, at least one of his bare-footed troopers was frozen to his stirrups and had to be thawed with warmed blankets by sympathizing comrades before he could dismount.
On the 7th of May there was some heavy fighting between the Confederates occupying "Rocky Face" and one corps of the three into which Sherman had divided his army of 90,000 of all arms.
The 8th Confederate was with the rear-guard and directly under the eye of General Wheeler, and had to make charge after charge on the troops of Howard’s Corps, which were endeavoring to crush us.

Two years later, following approval by the Federation's Executive Committee, Red Cross Day was celebrated for the first time throughout the world on 8 May 1948, the anniversary of the birth of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross.

The effects of this raid were so severe that the Emergency Committee decided that modifications of the original evacuation scheme were necessary and the outcome was that in the few days between May 9th and 11th, 1941, a total of 8,255 people were evacuated.
The branch office of the Yorkshire Post and the Yorkshire Evening Post, Paragon House, Paragon Street, was destroyed by the fire which swept the centre of the city during this air attack.

It was acknowledged that the Caloundra City Council is under considerable pressure with regard to site purchase, from both sides of the issue, and maximum attendance was encouraged at the council meeting to be held in Caloundra next Thursday 13 May at 9AM.

I can't remember the exact date, but logically it must be one of the two mentioned, as prior to the madness that now presides over the UK charts started, the only songs to be featured on the show were those that were rising up the chart, not going down.
