It and the 96th Regiment of Foot would amalgamate in 1881 to form The Manchester Regiment, which itself would amalgamate with The King's Regiment (Liverpool), to form The King's Regiment (Manchester and Liverpool) in 1958, later becoming The King's Regiment in 1968.
In 1758 the 2nd Battalion of the 8th (The King's) Regiment of Foot formed the 63rd Regiment of Foot.
The regiment was part of a force designed to assault a part of the great fortress of Sevastopol on 8th September 1855, during the last day of the long siege, known as the Great Redan.

The floor was painted in fl and white cheques, interspersed, at the upper and with the plume and motto of the Prince of Wales; in the center with the badge of the regiment; and at the lower end with military trophies.

he King's Regiment in the Canadas is a group of historic reenactors headquartered in the Toronto, Ontario area who are dedicated to accurately recreating the 8th or King's Regiment of Foot as it appeared during the War of 1812.
During this battle, which ended in a stalemate, the regiment was in the thick of the fighting, emptying their cartridge pouches, retaking positions with the bayonet, and struggling inch-by-inch in hand-to-hand combat.
The King's Regiment, being one of the old corps, was permitted to wear the badge of the running horse of Hanover which was displayed prominently on the regiment's shako and belt plates.

The new regiment was to be known as The Princess Anne of Denmark's Regiment of Foot.
Although the authorized complement of a British regiment of foot was 477 officers and men and up to 60 women (six per company), it was unlikely that as many as 450 men were available to embark for the West.
It was not until 1785 that the men of the 8th Regiment of Foot were finally released from their long exile on the Great Lakes when Lieutenant Colonel DePeyster received orders to lead his troops to Quebec as soon as they were relieved by soldiers of the 29th Regiment of Foot.

However, the conditions at the fort were harsh during the winter and McIntosh removed most of the American forces to Fort Pitt, leaving only about 150 men under the command of Colonel John Gibson.
The British learned of the miserable conditions at the fort, and on February 22, 1779, Captain Henry Bird of the 8th Regiment of Foot with a handful of British soldiers and a couple hundred Wyandot, Mingo, Munsee, and Delaware warriors laid siege to the fort.
The siege continued until mid-March and the men inside the fort reportedly were reduced to making a stew of boiled moccasins.

 MLU FORUM - The Royal Newfoundland Regiment
On April 27, 1813 when the Americans landed near the town of York there were 93 members of the Royal Newfoundland Fencibles, some Royal Artillery, Royal Naval Artificers, The 8th Regiment of Foot, The Glengarry Fencibles militia and the Incorporated Militia from York at Fort York to oppose them.
The Royal Newfoundland Regiment regard this memorial as an important part of their history and some years ago asked the 48th Highlanders to assist them by placing a wreath on the monument on April 27th.
The Regiment has done this since they were requested to and this year it is suggested that the Old Commrades Association do this as the Regiment will be away on a training program.

Raised in 1674, the Sixth Regiment of Foot had nearly 120 years of service behind it by the time the Napoleonic Wars began in earnest for Britain.
