These helmets are first shown in about the 4th century AD, and the latest representation I have seen dates to the mid-late 11th century.
In many ways, it resembles the morion of the 16th and 17th centuries; it curves upward at the front, allowing good visibilty, and has a central ridge running from the front to the back.
I will be adding more photographs of this reconstruction from different angles, to demonstrate the shape I believe this helmet to have been.
