Keikaku : Reviews : the band apart - alfred and cavity
Considering the contents of the EP preceding alfred and cavity, it should be no surprise the band is up to their same old tricks.
This is not at all a disappointment, though, as the band apart has changed to a more upbeat tack to deliver an album that is more memorable than their sophomore release quake and brook.
the band apart has stuck with their trademark sound, but as long as they keep pumping out smart guitar pop they have a long ways to go before wearing out their welcome.

Range bands are the simplest way to keep track of distances between two groups of characters.
This requires having a range band mat, which is nothing more than a sheet of paper marked off with parallel lines.
If you assume that the distance represented by a single range band equals 1,000 feet, then two groups a mile apart are placed six range bands apart.

That band more or less went into the grave with lead singer Jim Morrison in 1971, but, like all top classic-rock franchises, it now has the chance to exploit a lucrative afterlife in television commercials.
Morrison was in Europe and the band voted in his absence; Densmore, Krieger and Manzarek agreed to the deal.
Even before that, the band had agreed that the members would share equally in all music publishing rights, an arrangement that set them apart from most bands.

The band performs a wide range of musical themes, which would be difficult, if not for the almost limitless range and power of Lead Vocalist Gina.
Her voice anchors the band’s transitions from 60’s Motown and Psychedelic, back through the dance beat of the 80’s, and into the alternative driving sound of the 90’s where the band spends most of its time.
It’s the band’s selection of upbeat and driving favorites, occasionally punctuated with an interesting placement of lesser known cuts, that gives the band a differentiated sound that is never tiresome.

The Clarks are just what music needs: another band whose album consists of basically one extended song with 12 or so pauses to break the monotony.
The only difference is that the Clarks made it onto a major label, and your average college garage band won't attain that pinnacle of success. The album's sound is comparable to what Hootie and the Blowfish probably sounded like when they were slumming every bar east of the Mississippi.
Throughout their 10-plus years as a band, the Clarks have built up a strong and dedicated fan base around Ohio and in home state of Pennsylvania.

I also find it interesting how you saw the male leads in Band of Outsiders are "so unlikeable", which is exactly what I thought about the characters in Breathless.
A lot people claim that Band of Outsiders is "all style, but no substance" much like the criticism that Kill Bill is receiving at the moment.
Band of Outsiders is a ninety minute stylish romp, while Breathless, relatively speaking, is much more calm, collected, plot-oriented, and dare I say, predictable and controlled, possibly contrived.

The unassuming Kansas-based band has flown under the radar of mainstream music for years, quietly building a huge, devoted fan base and selling 150,000 copies of their six independent releases in a grassroots sneak-attack.
The ones requiring a full band became Whole 'Nother Deal, which was tracked live over four days in May by 11 musicians, all of whom were the group's friends or former collaborators.
Perhaps because of how the album was made (in a compressed time period, with all the musicians working together in one room), or perhaps because of the Spirit within them, Chaffer and company are able to transport listeners beyond time, space, and themselves—a gift that's rare in live shows and even more rare on recordings.

It's not the band or the songs, but the curious life-or-death stakes by which the band played the songs that deserves the rating the album was awarded.
No band wants to hear it can't top itself-- an implication that shadowed every perfect rating ST&C received critically-- and Trail of Dead seemed anxious to abandon their defining opus, which was already beginning to dwarf the band itself in importance.
The Austin band aims to rectify indie backlash and mainstream indifference with this elaborately orchestrated and structured new album.
