	General. Who is General? What is General? Where is General? Definition of General. Meaning of General.
		General is a high military rank, in most nations the highest rank, although some nations refer to high-ranking generals as Field Marshals.
		The different ranks of general are identified by the number of stars worn; a General of the Army wears five stars, a General four stars, a Lieutenant General three stars, a Major General two stars, and a Brigadier General one star.
		General is also the title of the leader of the Salvation Army religious group and of the Jesuits.

		Funston was considered a useful advocate for US expansionism, but when he publicly made insulting remarks about anti-imperialist Republican Senator George Frisbie Hoar of Massachusetts, President Theodore Roosevelt thought Funston had gone too far and ordered a stop to his public speeches.
		Funston took command of the city under martial law, and directed the dynamiting of buildings to create fire-breaks to stop the out-of-control burning of the city.
		General Funston was active in the conflict with Mexico in 1914 - 1916.

		A Defence of General Funston is a humour piece written by Mark Twain in honor of US General and expansionism advocate Frederick Funston.
		Funston had been a colonel in the Spanish-American and Phillipine-American Wars, and Twain had been an outspoken critic of these wars, as immoral ventures of the American state into the imperialist subjugation of foreign peoples and territories.
		Added to this neat forgery General Funston dictated a letter which was written by an ex-Insurgent attached to his command, telling Aguinaldo that the relief force had surprised and captured a detachment of Americans, taking five prisoners whom they were bringing to him because of their importance.

		Frederick N. Funston (11 September, 1865 - 19 February, 1917) also known as Fred Funston, was a General in the United States Army, best known for his role in the Spanish-American War and the Philippine-American War.
		After a bout of malaria, he returned to the United States, and enlisted in the United States Army at the start of the Spanish-American War with the rank of Colonel.
		Some considered Funston's reputation tarnished when details of the capture became known later on, as Funston's party gained access to Aguinaldo's camp by the ruse that the Americans were surrendering to the Filipinos.
