Ghost was born in Washington DC and spent the early years of his life in Morningside, Maryland.
Ghost; the vision beyond the vision, the meaning behind the meaning, the music that he creates is something everyone can feel and understand not only to be heard but to be used in existence and to get through life’s every day struggles.
Ghost was a guest at the 2004 Mid Atlantic Motor fest in Virginia.

 Interviews - Ghost
Ghost was born 25 years ago in Kingston, Jamaica and he grew up between Kingston, Clarendon and Rocky Point.
Ghost can't even begin to comprehend a career without music and it is not surprising when you think that at the tender age of 5 he decided he wanted to sing and he used to practice singing Michael Jackson songs while he was in the bath.
Ghost's first album, 'Slowly' was released by Shocking Vibes and was full of covers with the exception of the title track that Ghost wrote himself.

World of B ... presented by Brandon Broxey
Ghost is a quiet, quirky album, stripped down from the layered distortion of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and a clear departure from everything they've ever done.
The best track on Ghost is number five, "Hummingbird." It is also the most populist track, a sharp single backed by a clear piano melody and a sing-along chorus.
Ghost will most likely only be appreciated by obsessive listeners: music lovers who value subtlety and innovation.

'Ghost' touches me less often, although it is of course still powerful when the right mood is upon me. So basically for me: A very powerful album when I am in a certain mood, but rather trying and boring other times.
A Ghost Is Born finds Wilco at times struggling through failed experiments, but they also create some of the best music of their careers in the face of personnel and personal changes throughout the group
Another highlight of A Ghost Is Born is “Spiders (Kidsmoke)”, a track that was dramatically reworked from its original anthemic concert incarnation to an eleven minute, German, art-rock pogo opus.

state of the art: Wilco: A Ghost is Born
Wilco's highly anticipated fifth studio release, A Ghost Is Born (AGIB) showcases the feelings and emotions of the human heart as songwriter and group leader Jeff Tweedy deftly lets the music echo and expand the thoughts and sentiments expressed by the lyrics.
As I first listened to AGIB, I had some expectations that were too closely tied to my enjoyment of YHF, and I realized that I had to approach AGIB as an entity unto itself.
AGIB is a different sort of record, and with repeated listening this record began to grow on me.

A Ghost is Born is Wilco’s follow-up to the album that earned them a place among rock-and-roll legends, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
Ghost is characterized by a restless energy that propels the band off the track of predictable songs and off into no-man’s-land, where sometimes they find paths to glory and other times they get stuck on bumpy roads to nowhere.
A Ghost is Born captures the live experience of Wilco—the spontaneity, the raw energy, the sometimes intimate connection between Tweedy and audience.

The irony is that 2004's A Ghost Is Born, the eagerly awaited follow-up to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, is also the Wilco album with the strongest stylistic link to its immediate predecessor, as if their new fans are being given a moment to catch up.
A Ghost Is Born hardly sounds like a retread of YHF, but the languid, ghostly song structures, the periodic forays into dissonance, and the pained, hesitant vocals from Jeff Tweedy that were so much a part of that album also take center stage here.
A Ghost Is Born confirms what old fans and recent converts already know -- that Wilco is one of America's most interesting and imaginative bands -- and it's brave and compelling listening.

Wilco: A Ghost is Born- A Hollywood Jesus Music Review
The infectious twang and pop hooks of Wilco's former efforts may be fading fast, but A Ghost Is Born is still a rewarding effort that demands repeated listening.
AGIB is not a typical concept album, in that there is no consistent thread that ties all the songs together, although the singer does focus on how he relates to himself and to those around him.
AGIB is a lyrical and musical journey that draws the listeners in and bids them to share in this personal, heartfelt, honest and -- for the most part -- enjoyable ride.

It's in the mournful, captivating, meditative, exasperating, pretentious, masterfully constructed experience of A Ghost Is Born that Tweedy and Wilco become true iconoclasts.
He is not mythologizing the music loosely described as Americana, that Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks puzzled into the ground in the late '60s.
On A Ghost Is Born, he connects directly, and pointedly, with the mythology of early '70s music, or that period of time when, as Fred Goodman details in his terrific book "The Mansion on the Hill," popular music lost its battle with commerce.

A Ghost is Born, on the other hand, finds the band (now down to just two of its original members) fluttering about in a mash of self-indulgence and rather directionless sound.
On A Ghost is Born, however, Tweedy's songwriting is sparse at best with lines like "spiders are singing in the salty breeze / spiders are filling out tax returns / spinning out webs of deductions and melodies / on a private beach in Michigan" being the norm, rather than the exception.
The biggest drawback with A Ghost is Born, however, tends to be its lack of something.

Their fifth effort, A Ghost Is Born, is in fact mostly a quiet album.
The third track on Ghost would shatter all notions that this band is indeed "alt-country." "Spiders (Kidsmoke)" is a pulsing monster of a song, stretching over 10 minutes with it's repetetive, mechanical beat and some of the most f***ed-up guitar work you'll ever hear.

Each of the band’s albums, from the alt.country leanings of A.M. to the glimmering pop of Summerteeth and beyond, has a distinct feel, but A Ghost Is Born is the biggest departure yet.
Compression, hiss, barely audible feedback, radio static, amp noise and other random sounds are used to subtly alter the silent backdrop of the music, changing the mood almost imperceptibly.

Ghost's lyrics intertwine thoughts about a romance breaking up and a business relationship breaking down.
On A Ghost Is Born, Wilco take their Beatlesque aspirations and throw it in a blender with The Replacements, Crazy Horse, The Band and Radiohead for an album that is often difficult to understand but none the less brillant in its scope and ambition.
