A Hard Day's Night (song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The song featured prominently on the soundtrack to the Beatles' first feature film, A Hard Day's Night, and was on their album of the same name.
Lennon dashed off the song in one night, and brought it in for comments the following morning (the original manuscript lyrics may be seen in the British Library, scribbled in ballpoint on the back of an old birthday card).
The song is in the key of G major and in 4/4 time, though Richard Middleton (1990) describes G as the dominant in the key of C major.

Through its frenetic pacing and editing the film gives a strong sense of the moment, a portent of the cultural revolution of the 1960s and the rejection of a pre-war and wartime notion of dutiful and repressed Britishness in favour of the world that to become ‘Swinging London’.

The film takes on the just-left-of-reality style of a mock-documentary, following "a day in the life" of John, Paul, George and Ringo as fame takes them by storm.

CANOE -- JAM! Movies - A Hard Days Night Review - Beatles' Hard Day is still easy to love
More than 35 years after its release, A Hard Day's Night is still not only one of the funniest music films ever made -- it's one of the funniest films ever made, period.
Directed by Richard Lester (who was also behind the lens for their followup, Help!) and masterfully written by Alun Owen (whose screenplay was nominated for an Oscar), A Hard Day's Night is little more than a series of comic bits sandwiched between music video-style song treatments.
Stringing everything together is a wafer-thin plot that finds the boys in mid-phenomenon getting ready to perform live on an English television program, while attempting to find time to enjoy their fame as well as look after Paul McCartney's troublemaking but "very clean" grandfather (played with relish by actor Wilfred Brambell).

Having veteran British stage and screen actor Victor Spinetti in "A Hard Day's Night" had to have been the easiest decision the Beatles ever had to make in their lives -- or, at least the easiest decision George Harrison's mother ever had to make.
[Victor Spinetti in 'A Hard Day's Night'] While the Beatles grew both personally and professionally over the years, Spinetti said the one constant over the years is that the lads from Liverpool always remained honest and humble.
Spinetti played the snooty television director in "A Hard Day's Night," the Beatles' classic feature film debut from 1964, that's new on DVD (Miramax Home Entertainment).
