		That compilation grouped together all the songs recorded in the Schmilsson in the Night sessions, which produced the 1973 album and the 1988 posthumous Touch More album, As far as I can tell, the audio has not been remastered since that release, and it still sounds quite hissy.
		However, the sleeve notes comprise all that was issued with the original albums in 1973 and 1988, and include an interesting commentary.

		In a 1974 BBC special that Harry Nilsson did to promote A Little Touch Of Schmilsson In The Night, there's a wonderful moment when he finishes singing "Over The Rainbow," with full orchestra backing, and the venerable conductor-arranger Gordon Jenkins turns to him, nods and says, "I do believe, I do believe."
		Like his lifelong hero Stan Laurel (the thumb-as-lighter album cover is a nod to Stan), Nilsson could make you laugh and weep within the space of a few seconds (listen to "Lullaby In Ragtime").
		It was a bold move, as it marked the first time a rock singer had crossed the generation gap to record a whole album of standards.

		Harry’s blatant disregard for commercialism in favor of artistic satisfaction showed itself in Nilsson's next release, A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night (1973).
		As with the previous postings of Schmilsson, I will be posting all of the songs from this classic, in order as they appear on the US album version which will require two sessions since I can only fit the first 9 songs of 13 this time around.
		Incidentally, the UK version (entitled As Time Goes By perhaps more fittingly since it is the song that glues all of the lead-ins together) has a whopping 19 tracks, the entire recording session as it was meant to be performed, but alas, I do not have this version.

		However, the full album has recently been restored and released under the title "As Time Goes By: The Complete Schmilsson in the Night," and so you should absolutely avoid "A Little Touch" and make sure to get "As Time Goes By." You won't be sorry.

		I've owned this album since shortly after it was released, and I'm quite certain a week has not gone by when I haven't listened to it.
		I wondered about that for years, until I recently discovered the 1996 album "As Time Goes By: The Complete Schmilsson in the Night." I completely missed 1988's "A Touch More Schmilsson in the Night", but I'm glad to see the lost tunes from those sessions come to light.
		Nevertheless - The songwriting team of Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby was the subject of the 1950 movie "Three Little Words", named for one of their most popular tunes.
