A cyborg pioneer discovers weird alien life forms in the atmosphere of Jupiter in Clarke's 'A Meeting With Medusa' (1971).
Although one of the story's scientists argues animal life within the giant planet is impossible because there's no free oxygen, the one-man exploratory mission finds very large creatures that resemble jellyfish, and which may communicate via radio signals.
