A Report to an Academy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"A Report to an Academy" ("Ein Bericht für eine Akademie") is a short story by Franz Kafka, written in 1917.
In the story, an ape who has learned to behave like a human presents to an academy the story of how he effected his transformation.
He accomplishes this, with the help of many teachers, and reports to the academy that his transformation is so complete that he can no longer properly describe his emotions and experiences as an ape.

U.S. lawmakers to call for an outside opinion on the risks and merits of Hubble servicing and O’Keefe soon agreed to ask the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) to convene a committee to evaluate options for saving the space telescope.
In a final report released today, “Assessment of Options for Extending the Life of the Hubble Space Telescope”, the committee concluded that a shuttle mission is the “best option” for extending the life of Hubble and preparing the telescope for eventual robotic de-orbit.
The final report also rebutted O’Keefe’s objections to shuttle servicing as too risky, saying “the difference between the risk faced by the crew of a single shuttle mission to the ISS -- already accepted by NASA and the nation --and the risk faced by the crew of a shuttle mission to HST, is very small.

The American Academy of Pediatrics provides the following information for clinicians who may be aware of recent press surrounding an article that claims to show a correlation between thimerosal and autism.

An appropriate comparison is not made between thimerosal exposure and no thimerosal exposure, which is not possible using VAERS data, because one cannot be sure whether a child received a thimerosal-containing vaccine at any point before the event for which the VAERS report was created.

FDA Statement on "Scientific Criteria to Ensure Safe Food," a Report by the National Academy of Sciences
The National Academy of Sciences' report, "Scientific Criteria to Ensure Safe Food," commissioned by FDA and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, reinforces the progress FDA has already made in reducing and preventing food borne illness.
The report specifically attributes some of this progress to the adoption of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) approach to food safety - which FDA has already applied to seafood, fresh juice, and is voluntarily applied in the dairy industry.
To the extent that the NAS report calls for new legislative authority and additional resources, FDA will work closely with the Administration and the Congress to evaluate any innovations designed to make the U.S. food supply even safer.

 A Report to an Academy
"'''A Report to an Academy'''" ("'''Ein Bericht für eine Akademie'''") is a short story written by Franz Kafka in 1917 and originally published that year by Martin Buber, in the German monthly Der Jude, along with another of Kafka's stories, "Jackals and Arabs" ("Schakale und Araber").
Because the narrator does defy this condition, an existentialist perspective could be applied here, as the core of existentialist philosophy is "existence precedes essence"--meaning that one's nature is not fixed, and thus one has the freedom to "become" anything one wants to be.
However, it must be remembered that Kafka never would have called himself an existentialist, and aside from his appreciation of Nietzsche and Soren Kierkegaard, had little interest in philosophy.
