This tale of two cities is also a tale of two peoples—the people of God and the people of this world.
The city of man will be destroyed and its pride brought down: "He humbles those who dwell on high, he lays the lofty city low; he levels it to the ground and casts it down to the dust" (26:1).
In contrast to the city of man, the city of God is a strong city: "In that day, this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; God makes salvation its walls and ramparts" (26:1).
