A.I. Is a good union of two great film makers.
I saw A.I. on the first night it ran here and I must say I was disappointed in the size of the audience.
A.I.'s story line and flawless visual effects reflect what I can only describe as the meeting of two great film makers.

 Ai Otsuka - Yumekui
Ai Otsuka radically changed her image from her “Frienger” one where Ai was frequently featured in short hair and cute outfits, suggesting a fun-loving attitude.
Ai Otsuka was requested to create a song during the filming of this series and thus many of her fans were extremely anxious to hear the full version of this release along with other songs she performed as the vocalist of Sabakan during the drama.
From an older interview, Ai mentioned how her songs are meant to touch the hearts of young girls everywhere–this intention has been altered with the advent of her latest installment, “Yumekui.” “tears” shares a story with one of her other songs, “Momo no Hanabira,” which is something else we have not seen happen until now.

AI is set in the future where global warming has messed everything up.
The action picks up near the middle of the movie as David, Teddy his robot bear toy and Gigolo Joe (Jude Law) embark on a quest.
The three of them encounter incredible sights and sounds - 3 mile long bridges, holograms and sunken cities - as they travel through a bizarre futuristic city, meet Dr. Know (Robin Williams) and journey to the ends of the earth to help David find love.

 Movie Reviews AI
A.I. is O.K. Director Steven Spielberg returns to the sci-fi/fantasy genre that made him famous, but this time, it’s a story that was to be completed by the late Stanley Kubrick.
With strong thematic reference to the timeless tale of Pinocchio, the movie "A.I." is about the first machine programmed to love: an android boy named David (Haley Joel Osment), who does a remarkable job.
The movie is broken into three parts, the last of which is too long, and like I said earlier, rather depressing.

As a collaboration (as it were) between Kubrick and Spielberg, AI was of course a must see film.
Anyway, AI is a movie that blows you a way.
For those whose approach to movies is primarily thematic --- ``What are we expected to learn from this film?'' --- there's lots to think about here.

When AI finds out about this, it begins employing humans to make products FOR them (complete with authentic human mistakes) and we are once again back to a 19th century economy except for the fact that the entire civilization is a product of AI -- which operates in the background undetected.

AI is also a film that fortunately, Kubrick recognized needed the touch of someone like Spielberg who had shown the ability to work with children and tell stories in a non threatening, yet thought-provoking way.

This is a crossing between a Kubrick movie and a Spielberg movie.
I don't just have to refer to last year's 'Bicentennial Man', a movie I consider to be much better than 'A.I.', not because it would be especially artistic, but because it's honest and not that preposterous.
In such a company, a new android movie would have to seriously counter redundancy by being original, fresh and new (and post-modern, whatever that means).

A.I finally confirmed my suspicions about Spielberg, he is a mediocore if not bad director who makes movies with lots of humonguous special effects and nothing else and he has got away with it all the time, but with A.I, he went a bit too far.
This is a terrible movie, a third rate version of Pinocchio, just a bunch of scenes strung together with no proper flow, there is nothing redeeming about this movie, I couldnt help feel sorry for all the actors whose talent was wasted in this film.

And resurrecting someone instantly into a full adult from a scrap of DNA and then locating and extracting their personality and memories from the space-time continuum was fairly imaginative.
Also, after I posted this response, I read an editorial in the LA Times, that basicly said that the movie was hopelessly out of date, that the real future had chip-implanted enhanced humans, that would be connected to the Internet, having access to vast amounts of information and memory.

I liked that this movie is thought provoking and inspires discussion (movies that do that, especially on the large scale, are few and far between).
But in watching AI I couldn't disengage the thoughts I had on robots, sentience, love algorithms and the possibility of a robot soul from the relatively shallow treatment those ideas received in the film.
The film AI most reminded me off, strangely enough, was David Lynch's The Elephant Man. As in AI, we see someone who is accepted not as a person with feelings, but as a freak, an oddity, or a conversation piece.

Jupiter Parents | Movie Review - AI: Artificial Intelligence
Developed by Stanley Kubrick and completed by Steven Spielberg, this is a two-part invention of a movie that owes both its strengths and its weaknesses to the collaboration between two men of such prodigious talents and such different, even opposing sensibilities.
The juxtaposition of their influence is particularly apt for this story of the struggle between heart and brain, not just on the part of the mecha, but on the part of the orga (humans) as well.
Parents should know that the movie is rated PG-13 for some sexual references (Joe is a robot created to have sex with women, a crude joke about the equivalent for men) and some violence (mecha are destroyed, critically ill child, characters in peril).

JoBlo's Movie Club - AI: "The Kubrick Edit"
This all goes back to what I said about the Phantom Edit, and that is that it's very goddamn arrogant to grab someone's movie and try to "make it better" for yourself, because I'm sure the director was most likely glad of the result.
I agree that it would be arrogant to try to re-edit a movie and expect the director to like it better, but it is not unrealistic at all to think that there are fans out there that will like it better.
While there were certain shots in A.I. that were homages to Kubrick, and the story was obviously developed by him, this is still like saying by taking out a few scenes in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" you could make a David Lynch cut of it.

A.I. is a disturbingly eerie and occasionally captivating modern fairy tale that lives up to at least part of its name: It's more artificial than intelligent.
It seemed like a good idea: Take an artificial intelligence expert to see the new Steven Speilberg movie A.I., then pepper the fellow with questions about what in the film is conceivable, given the state of "machine intelligence" today, and what's outright rubbish.
