Amiga - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The first Amiga computer, simply called the Amiga, was released in 1985 by Commodore, who marketed it both as their intended successor to the Commodore 64 and as their competitor against the Atari ST range.
In 1990 the A3000 was introduced in the market as the successor of both A1000 and A2000, with an extended chipset (ECS), and the second release of its operating system, to be known eventually as the AmigaOS.
In the same year, Commodore released three new low-end machines: the CDTV, aimed to move the platform to the living room; the A500+, with the same enhancements as the A3000; and the A600, basically an A500+ in a smaller box with an IDE controller for hard disks.

A1000 is like the A925 in that it is using Symbian - and is basically a shrunken version of the A925.
The A1000 that I tried had a 3 logo on it, but I don't think the product is exclusive to them.
I heard that A1000 has been approved by Italy and the UK; my guess is that 3 won't wait too long to put this out into the market.

The A1000, or Commodore Amiga 1000, was Commodore's initial Amiga multimedia home/personal computer, released in the summer of 1985 at an original retail price of US$1,295 without a monitor.
Many A1000 owners remained attached to their machines long after newer models rendered the units technically obsolete, and it attracted numerous aftermarket upgrades.
Instead, the A1000 included a daughterboard with 256 KB of RAM, dubbed the "Writable Control Store" (WCS), into which the operating system was booted from floppy disk (the disk containing the 256 KB image was called "Kickstart").

I should note that he wasn't using a D1000, he was using an A1000 configured as JBOD, which is essentially the same thing.
He attributed this to the fact that the processor on the A1000 is comparatively weak, considered against the processing power of the host.
The amount of processing is less significant, so it's unlikely that the A1000's processor will be a limiting factor.

Marketed as "technohistory, art and supercharged customized cool", the RetroSystems A1000 is one of three custom x86 retro cases (the others are the Atari 2600 and NES) to be announced by Kermit Woodall.
The Retro Systems offer has attracted criticism from many rabid Amiga users, who object to the notion of selling x86 boxes to the Amiga market (a similar criticism was made of the Cerberus and the Extreme AmigaXL).
In spite of the obsessive nature of these criticisms, they raise an interesting point - the A1000 is historically worth more in its original case than a modified design.
