A15 road - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The road used to be straight, but with RAF Scampton becoming a base for V bombers in the 1950s, the runway had to be extended and the road now has a curved diversion.
This was the upgraded route of an unclassfied road.
The A15 towards the Humber Bridge, goes directly across the runways of the former RAF Bomber Command airfield at Elsham Wolds.

M180 motorway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The motorway runs east from M18 motorway near Thorne to the junction of the A15 and A180 roads near Humberside Airport.
The road surface of this section is particularly noisy.
The lack of observable landscape features, the flat and straight dimensions of the road, and the hypnotic effect of the concrete surface have helped to make it difficult for some drivers to stay awake whilst at the wheel when tired, or have had not enough sleep.

Having skirted the east side of the city, the A15 originally followed this route, but Pottergate is now also closed to through traffic, as the Cathedral, a mere 11th century upstart, was being shaken to bits by the heavy traffic grinding up the hill in low gear.
At the bottom of the hill the A15 no longer cuts across to the High Street, but uses Broadgate to reach the most easterly of the river crossings, then the junction with the A57, and next the flyover built in 1958 to replace a three-way level crossing (one road, two railways!).
The A15 has undergone many changes in Peterborough in recent years, avoiding the city centre to meet the A1 at various different points, but has now resumed more or less its original course, through the city centre, Fletton, and Yaxley, to meet the A1(M) at Norman Cross.

There is also likely to be an adverse effect on road conditions because of an increased flow of commuter traffic on to the main road.
We have gone to great pains not to ruin the area and keep the view from North Road very much as it is. The open appearance of The Croft will be maintained and the development will not have a great impact on the street scene.

Dunston Pillar is a stone tower that stands beside the A15 (the ancient route of Ermine Street, one of the most important Roman roads in Britain) approximately 10 km south of Lincoln near the junction of the B1178 (also known as Tower Lane).
The tower was built by Sir Francis Dashwood (better known as the founder of the Hellfire Club) in 1751 as a 'land lighthouse'—a navigational aid to assist travellers crossing the heathland around Dunston and Nocton.
In 1808, the lantern was destroyed in a storm and was replaced with a bust of King George III by the Earl of Buckinghamshire to celebrate fifty years of the king's reign.
