A19 road - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
From the M62, the village of Eggborough has been bypassed in recent years, with the new road travelling from this roundabout to near the power station to the right (there are three power stations in a row at this point, running west-east: Ferrybridge, Eggborough, and Drax, with its enormous chimney, to the east).
Close by is Whitley Bridge and the A19 then meets the A645 at a roundabout and its previous alignment to the north of the village, before travelling through Chapel Haddlesey and the small village of Burn, then before Brayton, it joins the A63.
This road was improved in 1998 by widening from 2 to 3 and 4 lanes each way the four mile section between the Parkway and Norton.

 Amendment 19
When A19 was adopted, forest managers were generally not fully aware of the impending crisis in fuel buildups and the decline in overall forest health that has led to the catastrophic fires of the last few summers.
Thus, roads on the east side of Hungry Horse Reservoir may affect the allowed density calculations of subunits that are wholly contained on the west side of the reservoir.
Road obliteration is clearly not required because the cost vastly exceeds the speculative benefits to bears, and should be eliminated immediately except in cases where it can be done economically and there is another road close by that can be used for public and management access to the same area.

 York to Thirsk
The main Roman road North from York to Hadrian's Wall at Corbridge and on to Scotland, left York from the south-east side, crossing the Ouse and keeping west of the river to join the route of the modern A1 near Boroughbridge.
The shape of the A19 north of the village conforms to the curve of the strip in the North Field, showing that it started as a field track lying between the North and Park Fields going as far north as the parish boundary.
The A19 road having entered the village may simply have joined the Outgang whence it ran to the York-Crayke road a mile to the east, which was then the main road to the north.

 germanybeck
The A19 route into York has never seen the promised safety improvements, which other routes have enjoyed, and the council would request that any proposed highway improvements through Fulford be clarified and put before residents again for their consideration before any of these plans are put into effect, worsening an already difficult traffic problem.
If Fordlands Road were seen as the main road and the road from the development as the minor road, then this would help to slow traffic from Germany Beck approaching the A19/Main Street.
The Fordland Road access and the new access to the development site, if different, should be raised to a level well beyond any possible flood level, but taking into careful account the environmentally sensitive nature of this area, especially close to the beck.
