  A20 road Information
The A20 is a two-digit major road in south-east England, carrying traffic from London to Dover in Kent.
Parts of the route now followed by the modern road, particularly the first section, was opened as a turnpike in the early part of the 18th century.
Part of the A20 in Ashford formed part of the Ashford By-Pass, a dual carriageway which used to run from what is now the roundabout with Simone Weil Avenue to the Willesborough roundabout.

According to the annual report presented to Ards Borough Council by Roads Service in Autumn 2005, the scheme is timetabled to begin in "early 2007".
However as of October 2006 the scheme seems to have gone to a public inquiry, to be heard in December 2006, which is likely to delay commencement of the project.
Note that the cost of £1.1m given in 2005 had increased to £2m by the time this public consultation was released in July 2006.
