The road between the M25 and Hastings is designated a trunk road, and is maintained and managed by the Highways Agency.
Now the A223 enters from the north from Orpington, and A21 is the Sevenoaks Road, a name it retains until Knockholt at Hewitts Roundabout where it is joined by the Orpington Bypass - A224 - from the north; where the road enters Kent near its junction with the M25 motorway.
This road is two-lane dual carriageway, and has junction with the M25 and the A25 near Chevening and with the cross-county A26 south of Tonbridge.

The A259 and A2070 are part of the national route along the south coast between the south Hampshire conurbation and the Channel Tunnel.
The road alignment at Winchelsea is particularly poor with a steep hill and hairpin bend where the road skirts the town, which affects traffic flow and forces large vehicles to cross to the wrong side of the road.
Through Rye, where the road is subject to a speed limit of 30 mph, the road follows a tortuous route immediately south of the picturesque town centre and parked vehicles often obstruct the flow of traffic.

A23 road - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The A23 road, in its original form, was a major road running between London to Brighton, United Kingdom, originally starting in Fulham on the road now known as A3220.
Much of the route follows that of the Roman road laid between Londinium and Chichester; from 1717, when the Turnpike Trust was set up, this was one of the major routes out of London for the stagecoaches.
Main roads running from the centre of London are always deemed to start from Charing Cross, although the A23 itself begins as Westminster Bridge Road near Waterloo station.

A259 road - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The A259 runs east from Emsworth in Hampshire, into Sussex via Chichester, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham-by-Sea, Portslade, Hove, Brighton, Peacehaven, Newhaven, Seaford, Eastbourne, Pevensey, Bexhill, St Leonards, Hastings and Rye.
Between Pevensey and Brenzett (where the A259 meets the A2070), the A259 becomes a section of the South Coast Trunk Road.
Of note is that the road passes through the town of Winchelsea, England's first new town.

A259: This section of the A259 should be subject to a 40 mph, rather than the existing 30 mph speed limit using appropriate speed reduction measures over the straighter length to achieve a high level of self-enforcement.
Road Safety: The roundabout layout and signing should be kept under review, especially with regard to access to the Bed Shop, O'Hagans, the Take-Away and other property in the south east quadrant.
Station Road: Ideally this should be widened to achieve a 5.5 metre carriageway and a footway on the west side between the Swan Roundabout and the level crossing but this is a long term aspiration.

We note in addition, that improvements to Titnore Lane would encourage traffic, and that the traffic is unlikely to keep to the speed limits or designed speeds for the road, each driver going as fast as his personal 'risk threshold' will allow.
