  Cyclone Model Rocket Plans
The Cyclone is a BT-20 medium-sized model rocket that uses a "unicopter" recovery system based on the dynamics of a maple seed.
These plans are derived from the final version of the rocket, which has been extensively flight tested.
You will hear the rocket whistle during its ascent (due to the exhaust gas vent), then at apogee it willl separate into the spin and stabilizer units.

The rocket was 1.4 m long, and had a takeoff weight of 150 kg.
The rocket was designed to be stabilized using a heavy rotating wheel in the nose, but there was concern that this might cause problems with the liquid fuels.
The A3 was first launched on December 4 1937, and was intended to test components for the planned A4.

 A3
A notable A3 innovation was a liquid nitrogen tank (inside the liquid oxygen tanks) which was heated by small electrical elements to provide gaseous nitrogen to pressure-feed the propellants.
The tests showed that the A3 configuration was unstable in flight and that it was going to take a lot of trial and error to identify the correct aerodynamic shape for the supersonic missile.
The rocket team was dismayed - it was the first time a visitor had exhibited no reaction to the power the rocket engines when fired for their benefit.

 V2-Rocket
The V-2 rocket was an early ballistic missile used by Germany during the latter stages of World War II against mostly British and Belgian targets.
But the third rocket launched on October 3, 1942 changed things, when the rocket followed its trajectory perfectly and landed 120 miles away, and became the first man-made object to enter space as well as the first man-made machine to exceed the speed of sound.
During tests, the rocket was painted in a characteristic fl/white chessboard pattern which aided in determining if the rocket was spinning around its own longitudinal axis.

Suppose the observed angles of elevation of the rocket at its apogee are a1, a2, and a3.
In terms of the variables x1, x2, x3, y1, y2, y3, a1, a2, and a3, this equation is lengthy to write down explicitly, but for numerical values of these, it is quite simple.

 Chronology - Quarter 4 1937
Same result as the first - the rocket made a quarter turn after launch, then reached only 100 m before the parachute jettisoned and the missile crashed into the sea a short distance from the launch stand.
The rocket is fired without the parachute that ruined the first two attempts, but in heavy fog.
Further study shows that at the low speed of initial rocket acceleration, a wind as little as 4 m/s would be enough to topple the rocket.

There was rapid progress under von Braun and by December of 1934 the first successful tests of the A2 rockets were carried out and 2 years later as the A3 rocket was in final planning work began on the soon to be famous A4 rocket (it became known as the infamous V2).
February 1946 saw von Braun launch the first V2 rocket launched in the US, the rocket performed well, with a flight of 244 miles into space and attaining a top speed of 5510mph; and here the US space program was born.
Sergei Korolev, however, was to die in a botched operation in 1966 and this tragedy together with the fact that there was not to be a final agreement of the full plan for a Soviet to reach the moon until Feb 1967 left the USSR a long way behind in the race for the moon.

The rocket will be primarily launched from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Russia, thereby reducing Russia's dependency on Kazakhstan for the use of their Baikonur Cosmodrome where the current generation of Russian rockets is launched from (but the heavy Angara A5 will be launched from both Plesetsk and Baikonur).
The rockets are designed to be modular, similar to the US EELV, and the family will offer a range of configurations capable of lifting between 2,000 and 24,500 kilograms to LEO.
The first launch of an Angara (probably the Angara A3 version) is expected to take place in 2006 or 2007 at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome.
