The A321 is a stretched variant with 24 percent more seating capacity, 40 percent of more cargo volumes and improved operating cost per seat, derived from the short/medium-haul aircraftA320, with maximum compatibility with the A320.
The A321 as the largest airplane of this group was conceived for distances with a higher passenger arising, for which the A320 would not be sufficient.
The A321 belonged to the single aisle family of Airbus Industrie and is a standard trunk airplane of most modern conception, in which new materials, digital avionics and progressive systems (among other things "fly by wire" flight controll system) apply.

The A321 is a stretched version of the short/medium range A320, offering 24% greater passenger accommodation, 40% more cargo volume and improved operating costs per seat, while providing maximum commonality with the A320 basic model.
It is a standard-fuselage aircraft of the most modern design which incorporates new materials, digital avionics and advanced systems (one of which is a fly-by-wire flight control system).
The A321 has a lower fuel consumption and lower operating costs than the aircraft that it replaces.
The A321 then runs straight into the nightmare that is the Wokingham one way system that confuses me to this day.
The A321, meanwhile, carries on through the forest to emerge at Sandhurst, where it swings under the railway.
As a whole, the A321 was probably a nice drive all the way when the numbers were first given out, but extensive housing and development along most of its route, and the appearance of the M4, A329 (M) and A331 have removed most of its importance.
The TIPS system-of-systems approach centers on a mixed-fleet approach based on the Transatlantic Cooperative AGS Radar, integrated onboard a manned A321 midsize aircraft and a High-Altitude Long-Endurance Unmanned Air Vehicle.
Typically seating 150 passengers in two classes with a range of up to 5,700km/3,050nm, the A320 is in widespread service on six continents, flying routes that range from short European commuter sectors, through European charter operations to coast-to-coast US flights.
Entering service in early 1994, the A321 seats 185 passengers in two classes and has a range of up to 5,600km/3,000nm.

LE BOURGET -- The CFM56-5B engine equipped with the double annular combustor (DAC) has had a successful entry into service on the Airbus Industrie A321 with Swissair, maintaining the inherent reliability of the CFM56 family while reducing NOx (oxides of nitrogen) emissions by 45 percent compared to engines equipped with a single annular combustor.
The engine is produced by CFM International, a 50/50 joint company of Snecma of France and General Electric of the United States.
Swissair, which took delivery of its first DAC-powered A321 in January 1995, is currently operating a fleet of five A320/A321s and is scheduled to take seven more A320/A321 aircraft by year's end.
