  A350 (Dorset): 15 Jul 2003: Westminster Hall debates (TheyWorkForYou.com)
The A350 is so bad in parts that more than half the drivers—about 5,000 a day—find it more convenient to use the "rat run" of the C13, a country lane that fortuitously runs parallel to the main road.
The A350 is narrow, tortuous and substandard for its purpose.
However, the road is a local road and it is for Dorset county council to manage it.

Airbus A350 - Wikipedia Light!   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
The Airbus A350 is a long distance 250–300-seat twin-engined airliner in development, derived from the design of the existing A330, intended to increase range and decrease operating costs.
The A350 will be produced and assembled at the same facilities as the A330 and the A340, with however, additional risk-sharing partners and associates in China, Russia and other countries around the world.
The first months of the A350 project were not without controversy, as it comes in the middle of a trade dispute between the U.S. and the EU about government support for Boeing and Airbus.

In Salisbury the announcement of the Brunel Link/Harnham Relief Road scheme led to a 900+ signature petition of objection to the Government from local residents.
Meanwhile, across Wiltshire, the county council expressed dismay when two of its road building schemes were put on hold in the Government’s 2001 local transport settlement, pending a study by the regional assembly of the Bristol/Bath to south coast corridor.
Road schemes across the county are being opposed by an umbrella organisation, the A36/A350 Corridor Alliance, which links members from local Transport 2000, Friends of the Earth, CPRE and other concerned groups along the length of the corridor.

To reflect the road's important role as the main link between Bournemouth, Ringwood, Salisbury and Swindon it is proposed that it should remain part of the National Primary Route Network.
Road improvements on the A338 between Salisbury and Ringwood are based on: (i) road safety, maintenance and environmental needs, and not forecast capacity requirements; and (ii) a series of localised schemes to a single carriageway standard.
The "Alternative Routes" Strategy, based on planned improvements to the A350 road to the west and the A34/M3/M27/A31 dual carriageway route to the east, provides relief to the A338 between Salisbury and Ringwood whenever possible.

 SABRE - Road Lists - The First 99 - A75
The road starts just north of the England/Scotland border at what is now junction 22 of the A74(M), forming a short dual-carriageway northern bypass for the village of Gretna, which runs parallel to the railway line.
Here it runs parallel to an unclassified road known as the "Old Military Road" (was this the original route of the A75?), with a roundabout close to Lochfoot before the A712 junction at Crocketford or Nine Mile Bar.
This means that this road during its length ranges from motorway to dual carriageway to single carriageway.

A distance beyond which people are not likely to walk or cycle into the town (assessed to be approximately 1.6km/1 mile, equivalent to a 20/30 min walk.) Thus the use of the motor car is likely to be increased when housing or employment developments are situated beyond this distance.
Speed restrictions on the A30 and the treatment of the dual carriageway section of the road further to the west (running up to the Royal Chase roundabout), perhaps through the creation of right and left turning lanes on to and from the B3081, will be important considerations in the implementation of this junction arrangement.
Such measures may include separation of cyclists from other road traffic, shared pedestrian/cycle routes, facilities to cross roads carrying a heavy traffic flow, restrictions on parking and speed control facilities to slow motorists where separation is impossible.
