  SABRE - Road Lists - The First 99 - A44
The original starting point of the A44 was just east of Chipping Norton with the A34, however since the extension of the M40 in the late 80s, A34 traffic has been redirected onto the M40 and the A44 now starts at the far end Woodstock Road, north of Oxford, where it joins the A40.
After the A38 crosses in a staggered junction, the A44 continues via Deansway past the statue of Elgar and the Cathedral before swinging West to cross the river.
From the bypass the A44 heads over the railway line before turning left at a former T junction (the RHS being the B4361 to Ludlow), doglegging round the town centre, before meeting a signal-controlled TOTSO to the right (straight ahead being the other half of the B4361).

In 1980 a survivor of the attack on Company A44, Phill Coleman, completed a book on the incident.

1999 Meeting Abstracts A44: Buddhism and Phenomenology   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-27)
Theravada Buddhist ethical values are held in the context of a natural law perspective; the natural law is the Dhamma, Reality, or Nature.
In recent years, an increasing number of scholars have either noted similarities in the projects of individual Buddhist thinkers and phenomenologists or have used phenomenological methodology and terminology to interpret specific works within the Buddhist tradition.
In the course of this investigation, I will develop a terminology which arises from both phenomenology and Dogen's Zen Buddhism and, at the same time, enables me to interpret Zen Buddhism in the light of phenomenology and, conversely, phenomenology in the light of Zen Buddhism.

 The SABRE Roads Website
* The A44 never came into Oxford until quite recently--the road now known as the A44 was the A34 between the roundabout adjacent to what is now the Peartree Interchange (which, for now, I will call the "old Peartree roundabout") and the point where the current A3400 leaves the A44.
From there the A43 followed what is now an unclassified road (Frieze Way) parallel to, but north of, the current A34 connector, went straight through the south Kidlington roundabout, and continued on a northeastern course tying it to the A43 Towcester-Northampton road which now also functions as a connector to the M40.
