  A449 road
The A449 is a major road in the United Kingdom.
The A449 reappears at Ross-on-Wye at the junction of the A40 and the M50 motorway and continues roughly north-east to Ledbury, Malvern, Worcester, then turns northwards to Kidderminster and Wolverhampton before meeting the M6 motorway at junction 13, and finally terminating in Stafford.
This dual carriageway road was built to near motorway standards, and was intended to ease the strain on the Severn Bridge, providing an alternative route to the Midlands.

Improvement works to the approach barriers of Chester Road Bridge are now complete and the road fully open in both directions.
The bridge is near Chester Road Sports and Social Club, at the junction of Chester Road North and Lyndholm Road approximately 1/4 mile South of the A449/A456 junction.
We needed 3 more road closures than was originally advertised, as the programme had slipped due to some 3rd party permissions taking longer to obtain than anticipated.

 SABRE - Road Lists - Roads by 10 - A449
A high proportion of this road is dual carriageway, but the local authority have seen fit to make it a very frustrating one, as one lane is continually marked out, and covered in red tarmac in order to enable better access to side roads at the expense of progress on the main route.
The A449 between the A40 and M4 was built as a concrete road and my memories of my student days (late 80s) is that they were always digging the road up - I think there was a long term maintenance programme to reconstruct the road.
The road terminates at Junction 24 of the M4 underneath the imposing Celtic Manor Resort, where there is also access to the A48 and to the A455.

 Walk #651: Malvern to Ledbury
This road meets the B4232 road; continue straight on along the latter until a car park and a brick tower is reached on the left.
Turn to the left and follow this road as it heads in a rough westerly direction for a kilometre before curving to the left to head southwards to end at a road junction near the village cross in Bromesberrow.
As the road approaches the northern outskirts of the town it curves sharply to the left; immediately before the bend turn right up the station approach road that ends at Ledbury railway station, where this walk ends.
