The Partnership will use its existing four fixed speed cameras on the A45 at Ryton that are all located within the road work area, along with additional temporary fixed speed cameras and if necessary mobile speed cameras to encourage speed limit compliance and to reduce the risk of crashes occurring.
Speed cameras were installed on the A45 at Ryton-on-Dunsmore in 2001 to enforce the 50mph speed limit which was introduced to improve safety at the A45/A445 junction.
The comparison of the three years before and after the speed cameras were installed demonstrates that the cameras have had a significant impact on road safety, halving the number of collisions in which people have been killed or seriously injured.
