Highways Agency - A483 Pant to Llanymynech Bypass
The A483 in Shropshire forms part of the Swansea to Manchester Trunk Road and is an important north-south route for traffic travelling from South Wales to North Wales and North West England.
The proposal is to improve the road along its existing line between the southern end of the Oswestry Bypass and the junction with the A495 at Llynclys, and to bypass the villages of Pant and Llanymynech from Llynclys to the River Vyrnwy.
The A483 Pant-Llanymynech scheme is currently not being progressed because the West Midlands Regional Transport Board has placed it low in their priorities of the Region.

 SABRE - Road Lists - Roads by 10 - A483
The A483 is one of three South Wales to North Wales routes, though probably less well known than the A487 coastal route, or the A470, which strikes north from Cardiff.
The A483 gives way to the A489 at the start of the short multiplex, but has the straight ahead route at the roundabout a few hundred yards later, where the two roads diverge.
The A483 appears to bypass the town centre along what I assume is a more recent alignment, and I would hazard a guess that the present A490 and A458 mark the old route of the A483 in this area.

The A483 is a notorious speed trap so slow down, arrive alive and save yourself a fine and points on your licence.
Please note that on the A483 the bridge above the Rossett/Llay slip road is a regular haunt for mobile speed cameras.
