 SABRE - Road Lists - Roads by 10 - A518
Its ring road remains incomplete and the few effort made to improve traffic flow to the south and west of the town are skewed by the presence of the M6.
After leaving the town the road crosses the A513 ‘ring’ road, passes the university, Staffordshire police HQ (cheery wave!) and the county showground before descending a long steep hill to cross the Trent & Mersey canal, the A51, and the West Coast mainline railway at Weston (transport heaven!).

 CBRD - Motorway Database - M54
It is a major cause of traffic problems on the M6 within the West Midlands area, since it (and the M5) both unburden themselves onto the road, and between their two junctions the M6 is usually unbearable.
The M54 was granted an extension in the early 1990s, though it would be silly to think an extension of the same road built to the same standard and heading in the same direction (as far as Shrewsbury) would get the same number.
Between there and the new junction 5, the road was painted down to two lanes when the eastward extension was opened to a lower standard.

The A5187 forms the western part of the Stafford inner ring road and is a non-primary route.
Unlike the eastern (primary) section of the ring road, a 70’s built dual carriageway that carries the A34 around the town centre, the A5187 is made up of existing roads and is single carriageway throughout.
The final section of the road after roundabout is in a more general easterly direction as Chell Road past the big Sainsbury’s before ending on the massive Gaol Square gyratory and meeting the A34.

Mopar Overdrive Transmission Swap - How To - Hot Rod Magazine
First introduced for the Dakota trucks in 1988, the A500 and A518 automatic overdrive transmissions are based on Chrysler’s 904 and 727 Torqueflites, respectively.
Either transmission can be found in the Mopar Performance catalog, (part No. P5249165 for the A500 and P5249166 for the A518), and the gear ratios are identical to the older trannies, with the exception of the overdrive.

 Barry Stamp - Press Releases
Speaking at last nights meeting of Haughton Parish Council Annual Village Assembly, Gnosall County Councillor Barry Stamp said he was pleased that a thorough review of the A518 through the two villages had been identified as a high priority at a recent meeting of the County Council's Area Highways Strategy Workshop.
I have believed for a long time that there is no one answer that will solve all these problems, and that the only way we will make any real progress is to put together a package of different measures.
The acceptance that the whole of the A518 from Stafford to the Shropshire border should be considered in its entirety, and a strategy that addressed the problems of the whole route be drawn up, must be welcomed.
