From here, the village of Eggborough has been bypassed in recent years, with the new road travelling from the roundabout near the power station (there are 3 power stations in a row at this point, running west-east: Ferrybridge, Eggborough, and Drax, with its enormous chimney, to the east).
Before this happened, the road, and all the traffic, headed straight towards the centre of Selby, over a level-crossing and on to a busy traffic-light junction with the A63 from Leeds.

The A63 Selby Road in West Yorkshire, between the A1 roundabout and access to the hotel at Selby Fork, will be closed to all traffic from 8pm on Saturday 11 December until 6.30am on Sunday 12 December to allow a bridleway bridge at the junction to be lifted into place.
Traffic heading eastwards along the A63 will be diverted via the A1 southbound until A1/A162 junction at Brotherton, where they will join the A162 northbound until the diversion end at the A63/A162 junction.

However, there are few roads alongside the bank of the River Humber so the TPT cycling route takes in a section of unmade farm road/bridleway.
In order to avoid the A63 and to take advantage of the quiet lanes to Howden local cyclists use an 'illegal' shortcut to the north west of Broomfleet past a brickworks.
This is a tarmac road but a short section of it belongs to the brick works and no agreement has been negotiated for it to be made part of the TPT.

Boothferry Park is situated on Boothferry Road (The A63), in West Hull.
Boothferry Road runs in from the left and carries on to the roundabout, where it joins Anlaby Road.

In the opposite direction, the road is signed for Newsam Green - a rather vague area with a landfill and an open-cast mine.
Further down the road there seemed to be construction work and through the fence a brand new road surface with brand new crash barriers was visible - it wasn't clear if this was a new road or just part of the open-cast mine.
If it is new road, it seems the A63 will continue away from the M1 rather than multiplexing with it.

There is a car park at the front of the stadium but this tends to be reserved for pass holders and away fans coaches/minibuses.

The former A63 is no longer classified - not shown as A1238 - perhaps OS will be caught out by their premature mapping update?
There are big plans in Selby to pedestrianise the main street (currently the A19/A63 multiplex), in which case, I guess the A1238 would go down the new route, which I'd guess would take the Scott Road/Millgate route.
