ABKCO Music & Records, Inc. is the successor company to a business that was founded in 1961 as Allen Klein & Co. Allen Klein was then a business manager specializing in music clients including Bobby Darin and Sam Cooke and, later, managed The Rolling Stones and The Beatles.
ABKCO administers Phil Spector Records and its master recordings including iconic hits by The Righteous Brothers, The Ronettes, The Crystals and others.
Today ABKCO is active on many fronts including the release of critically lauded compilations and reissues from its catalogs, film and commercial placement of its master recordings and music publishing properties.

The label was originally named Cameo-Parkway Records, but renamed after is was purchased by Klein in 1967.
ABKCO stands for "Allen B. Klein Company", but was sometimes jokingly referred to by Allen Klein as "A Better Kind of COmpany".
When he was demoing this song for Phil Spector during 1970 he jokingly changed one line of the lyrics to "Beware of ABKCO", propably referring to the economical disaster the Beatles went through because of Allen Kleins mismanagement.

Berry, Bo Diddley, et al are all important influences on the guitar sound of the early Rolling Stones, but one of the things that listening to the early recordings of the Stones drives home to you is how much Brian Jones and Keith Richards really influenced the initial generation of psychedelic guitar players.
It is impossible to imagine the early work of guys like Roky Erickson, Jerry Garcia, Pete Albin et al without the work of Jones in particular.

This collection from Abkco, Retrospective, brings together 22 legendary songs including Burdon's singular, "Spill the Wine", recorded with a rising band named WAR, who would go on to generate enough singles to fill an album themselves.
While the Mono recordings are well done, the Stereo truly shines on these inclusions.

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - ABKCO Records will on Nov. 25 release 11 Rolling Stones titles in vinyl, following reissues last year of the albums in hybrid Super Audio CD (SACD) format.
The ABKCO series will comprise the Stones' initial recordings from 1963 through the 1970 live set "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!," as well as several compilations.
All albums will be released in "extremely limited" quantities, according to a spokesperson.
