AFC Guildford   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
AFC Guildford was formed in 1996 with the sole purpose of bringing senior football back to the town of Guildford.
Therefore in consultation and agreement with Burpham F.C, AFC Guildford was formed and moved to playing football at the Spectrum Leisure Centre, Parkway, Guildford.
That work was completed in early November 2004 which allowed AFC Guildford to return to their home ground near to the town centre.

Merstham FC: Premier Challenge Cup Winners 2005   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
Guildford seemed very laid back on the ball and, with Merstham’s strength and determination, it was only a matter of time before they opened the scoring.
In the meantime, an unused substitute from Guildford’s bench ran onto the pitch and angrily lashed out punching Rhod Davies in the side of the head and as he fell to ground began to kick him repeatedly.
But the most bizarre and sickening sight was of AFC sub Matt Spink sprinting from the away team dugout - a distance of around 60 yards - to land a punch on the side of the already wounded Davies's face as he scuffled with Clarke.

Feltham FC - News   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
Feltham players were on the receiving end of the grilling of their lives after surrendering a one-nil half-time lead to lose by two in Cranleigh.
AFC Guildford played the hosts, where they are ground sharing this season, in a match that neither team were able to get a tight enough grip on to dominate.
Constant arguing with the officials meant some players had their minds on other things and it was this disregard for concentration that gifted the home team their third, a quick free kick found Simon Curran napping and the Blues knew they’d lost it while Barbato celebrated his brace.

Match Reports   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
This incident was a crucial turning point of the game for Merstham who looked extremely disheartened by AFC Guildford’s lead, changing their whole approach to the game.
Following the goal Guildford showed their ability to press on and up the tempo of the game providing themselves with better chances, which Merstham could easily take a lesson from, as yet again the lead did not seem to drive them on for another goal as they sat back and relaxed instead.
Unfortunately, 8 minutes later Godalming and Guildford’s striker Newman became a bit of a concern to Manager Mick Sullivan when the pressure asserted by the number 10 led to his second goal with a great run from 35 yards to put the visitors back in the lead.

Guildford has had no real team that unites the community since 1974 when Guildford City played at Josephs Road.
AFC Guildford have been in existence since 1996 and have just won their league for the 2003/04 season, but in real danger of having to play outside the borough if the local council does not have the funding to upgrade their current pitch at the Spectrum Athletics park.
This will prevent AFC Guildford from being promoted into the Combined Counties Premier division, once again depriving the local community of football.

Sullivan's side showed there was no gap in quality between the two sides, despite Merstham being six places lower than AFC Guildford in the division, and comfortably won their first cup final in 14 years.
Merstham continued to pile the pressure on the Guildford defence before the break, but were kept at bay until three minutes after half-time when Davies skilfully passed two defenders and let loose a powerful strike which keeper Adlam could not stop to put Merstham 2-0 up.
He was tripped by a desperate Guildford defender and referee Rowley pointed straight to the spot.

CNFC MATCH REPORT 02 - vs GUILDFORD
Chippy boss Mark Johnson was finally able to field something resembling his side for the forthcoming season, and this resulted in a much improved performance in an entertaining 2-2 draw against Combined Counties League side AFC Guildford on Saturday.
Guildford were maintaining a great deal of possession, but time and again their final ball was swallowed up by the commanding figure of Steve Olachek at the heart of The Magpie defence.
The visitors again drew level 10-minutes from time, after a fine run and shot from their very lively substitute right midfielder who was a constant threat throughout.

BBC NEWS | England | Southern Counties | Appeal decision due over stadium
The application was made in 2004 by Trinity Investments Ltd, after local businessman Michel Harper was asked to help AFC Guildford find a new ground.
The reasons for the 8,000-seater sports stadium being refused outline planning permission included its impact on Stoke Park, the "unacceptable levels" of associated crowd and traffic movements, and a doubt as to whether the town actually needed it.
Combined Counties League side Guildford United, the new guise of AFC Guildford, currently play in a stadium at the Spectrum leisure complex.

Ash then were denied a blatant penalty when James Peters was brought down in the box by James Clarke but the only two people in the ground not to see it was the Referee and his Assistant.
Ash used the extra man advantage well but were unable to get a real attempt at goal and at the other end Guildford went close with a couple of well struck shots that saw Paul have to make a couple of good saves.
Paul Bonner however did have a great chance to put Ash into the lead when after some great inter-play he got himself clean through but put his shot wide of the target.
