Silver is a state-of-the-art exhibition center offering independent features, shorts, foreign films, documentaries, and classic cinema accompanied by filmmaker interviews, panels, discussions, musical performances and other special events designed to educate, enhance and provide cultural context.
Silver II, a 200 seat, 3,424 square foot theatre, offers filmmakers and presenters stadium seating, studio grade 16 and 35mm projection, and a 37.5-foot wide screen - Silver III, 1,960 square feet overall, is recommended for screening dailies, for lectures, corporate presentations, slide shows or film parties.

Glass paneled trim quickly followed the chimney.  A mock-porthole window located on the front corner of the building was filled in with mortar.  Concrete was even poured on the threshold of the Silver's front set of doors, burying a geometric red, green, blue, white, fl and red mosaic design.
When no developers stepped forward to undertake the cost of restoring the theatre, the Montgomery County government acquired it in 1996.  Two years later the county signed an agreement with the American Film Institute to restore the theatre and to subsidize the theatre's operations in the first few years.
