An AFTRA member may not render services as a freelance performer for any employer within the jurisdiction of the Seattle Local in any of the fields of interest to AFTRA who is not signed to the appropriate Code or Contract nor for any employer who has been declared unfair by AFTRA.
Please notify AFTRA Seattle Local in writing of any change of name due to marriage, divorce, adding of a "professional" name, etc. These changes should all be relayed to the Seattle Local of AFTRA so all records are complete and can be credited and mailed properly.
In the event there is such a conflict, the applicant and the member shall be advised of such conflict and AFTRA shall use every moral persuasion to convince the applicant to make a meaningful change to his or her professional name.

John P. Connolly was first elected AFTRA National President in 2001 and was recently reelected to a second two-year term at the 2003 National Convention in Nashville.
Connolly’s presidency, AFTRA has increased its commitment to organizing in entertainment programming and Spanish language media, focused its legislative work locally and nationally and strengthened its ties both within the labor movement and in coalition with community and advocacy groups.
He is a member of the Los Angeles Local and National Boards of the union, and served for five years on the Screen Actors Guild National Board.

WASHINGTON -- AFTRA is continuing to put pressure on lawmakers to modify pending legislation that would exponentially increase the fines individuals would have to pay for indecent speech broadcast over the air.
In a letter sent to senators Tuesday, AFTRA's top executives ask lawmakers to strike the provision that seeks to raise from $11,000 to $500,000 the fine that on-air individuals could face for indecency violation.
AFTRA's letter comes after the Senate Commerce Committee unanimously approved the bill, and similar legislation won an overwhelming victory in the House of Representatives.
