	AIMutation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		AIMutation is a computer program that adds features to AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) version 5.x.
		It is also, now, open source software licensed under the GNU Public License.
		The official website redirects to Messenger:Mate, a commercial AIM (and MSN) add-on developed by the original developer of AIMutation, Maurizio Pisano.

		Well for those of you who are in that situation, i suggest that you download AIMutation or DeadAIM.
		AIMutation will also allow you talk while you are away where as DeadAIM wont.
		Both programs have some bugs but are updated pretty frequently so you should be ok. The new version of DeadAIM cost $4.99 and works with the new version of AIM, however you rather not pay for it download an older version of AIM here and get a free copy of DeadAIM here.

		Well, the two people that were in charge of Aimutation (em and jier) have decided to kind of sign off on the project.
		By their wishes, and for the best interest of the development community, Aimutation will be an open source project from now on.
		I will discuss features that are planned/hoped for inclusion in future versions, but one of the first tasks is to try and make Aimutation function with the latest betas that AOL has made available.

		After installing aiMutation, you should open up the aiMutation menu and configure everything the way that you want it.
		The aiMutation skins are limited here at skinz.org, but there are other sites that have skins.
		To apply skins, go to the aiMutation menu by either clicking the button or going to "My AIM > AIMutation Menu." Now click "Change Skin", and a box will pop up that shows you all of the skins that you have installed.

		By default when you install AIMutation it will install a “login logo.bmp” with the AIMutation logo that will be displayed when you sign on to AIM.
		Some AIMutation skins also have their own login logos that come with that AIMutation skin that you may be using.
		Not all AIMutation skins have their own login logo, if they do not then the “login logo.bmp” that is in your AIM directory or the default AIM login logo will be displayed depending on if you have ‘Customise the login dialog log enabled or disabled.

		If you don't pay (and download from FileForum), you wind up hung at a prompt asking for a serial number when you run AIMutation the first time.
		Then, when you uninstall AIMutation, it doesn't uninstall cleanly -- leaving the hook for its OCM file in AIM's config -- so that you have to uninstall AIM and reinstall it.
