	AGM-86 Air-Launched Cruise Missile [ALCM] United States Nuclear Forces
		The first ALCM powered flight took place on 5 March 1976 over the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico when a B-52G crew ejected an ALCM from a SHAM rotary launcher.
		During the 30-minute flight, the ALCM successfully negotiated four terrain correlation mapped areas and completed a terrain correlation update in each area.
		On 21 September 1982, the 416th became the first operational wing to conduct an ALCM operational test launch, and on 16 December, the 416th was declared the first combat-ready ALCM-equipped wing.

	Cruise Missiles Parts I, II
		In spite of the fact that the ALCM airframe was not optimised for minimum radar signature, either in shape or materials, it has a small cross section which will apparently be reduced by the use of stealth technologies in future upgrades.
		Though the ALCM has had numerous teething troubles, both in software (resulting in the recent flight tests over Northern Canada serving to acquire calibration data on flat polar terrain performance and Coriolis effect compensation) and in powerplant performance, it is an effective system.

	AGM-86 ALCM Air-Launched Cruise Missile - Strategic Air Command - Nuclear Warhead
		The AGM-86B ALCM (Air-Launched Cruise Missile) is the major long-range standoff attack missile of the U.S. Air Force's B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers.
		Development of the ALCM can be traced back to January 1968, when the USAF drew up a requirement for a vehicle called SCAD (Subsonic Cruise Aircraft Decoy).
		SCAD was to be a decoy missile carried by B-52 and B-1A bombers, which was to simulate the bombers on radar to disrupt enemy air-defense systems.

		In February 1974, the Air Force entered into contract to develop and flight-test the prototype AGM-86A ALCM, which was slightly smaller than the later B and C models.
