AGM-86 Air-Launched Cruise Missile [ALCM] United States Nuclear Forces
The first ALCM powered flight took place on 5 March 1976 over the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico when a B-52G crew ejected an ALCM from a SHAM rotary launcher.
During the 30-minute flight, the ALCM successfully negotiated four terrain correlation mapped areas and completed a terrain correlation update in each area.
On 21 September 1982, the 416th became the first operational wing to conduct an ALCM operational test launch, and on 16 December, the 416th was declared the first combat-ready ALCM-equipped wing.

 Cruise Missiles Parts I, II
In spite of the fact that the ALCM airframe was not optimised for minimum radar signature, either in shape or materials, it has a small cross section which will apparently be reduced by the use of stealth technologies in future upgrades.
Though the ALCM has had numerous teething troubles, both in software (resulting in the recent flight tests over Northern Canada serving to acquire calibration data on flat polar terrain performance and Coriolis effect compensation) and in powerplant performance, it is an effective system.
The overall significance of the ALCM is however far lessened when one considers also the effects of submarine and ground launched theatre nuclear cruise missiles, weapons of comparable capabilities with very flexible modes of deployment.

The USAF had given ALCM low priority, and in fact there were many in the USAF command hierarchy that had a low opinion of the whole idea of cruise missiles.
ALCM is powered by a Williams Research F107-100 engine, and carries a W-80 nuclear warhead with 200 kilotonnes yield, as developed for SRAM.
The fact that the radar altimeter points straight down ensures that the missile doesn't give itself away by its radar emissions, but as the missile flies at low altitude, mission planners must ensure that it climbs when the TERCOM maps indicate a cliff is ahead.

In other words, the ALCM is at odds with the Magisterium of the Church (MC), represented by the Pope, on a number of different issues.
ALCM takes advantage of a USCCB absence to lean across the table and say to MC, “You know, you really are out of it, old man. You need to back down from your theoretical mumbo-jumbo and lighten up.
Once ALCM has left, the USCCB begins crafting a press release about ushering in a new era of understanding, tolerance, and peace among the faithful, and calling for a greater involvement of the laity in just about everything.

AGM-86 ALCM Air-Launched Cruise Missile  - Strategic Air Command - Nuclear Warhead
The AGM-86B ALCM (Air-Launched Cruise Missile) is the major long-range standoff attack missile of the U.S. Air Force's B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers.
Development of the ALCM can be traced back to January 1968, when the USAF drew up a requirement for a vehicle called SCAD (Subsonic Cruise Aircraft Decoy).
SCAD was to be a decoy missile carried by B-52 and B-1A bombers, which was to simulate the bombers on radar to disrupt enemy air-defense systems.

The engine starts when the ALCM is launched from its carrier aircraft and its folded inlet fully deploys.
This engine was recovered from the Utah Test and Training Range following an ALCM test flight and later donated to the museum.

AGM-86C Conventional Air Launched Cruise Missile [CALCM] - United States Nuclear Forces
In February 1974, the Air Force entered into contract to develop and flight-test the prototype AGM-86A ALCM, which was slightly smaller than the later B and C models.
The ALCM became operational four years earlier, in December 1982, with the 416th Bombardment Wing at Griffiss Air Force Base, NY, which deactivated when the base closed in 1995.
This ALCM to CALCM modification program was conducted under under classified contract F34601-91-C-1156, which delivered the last lot of AGM-86C's to the Air Force in June 1993.

The AGM-86B ALCM (Air-Launched Cruise Missile) is a small, unmanned air vehicle carried by U.S. Air Force B-52 and B-1 bombers.
Operational since late 1982, the cruise missile is called a "stand-off weapon" because of its ability to hit a target hundreds of miles away without endangering air crews.
The ALCM flies low, at treetop level, so as not to be detected and fired upon.

While we are committed to focusing on Asian cultural texts, we also share the theoretical and methodological concerns common in departments of comparative literature and cultural studies.
Most ALCM courses therefore will be organized around a particular theoretical issue or problematic that is of broad interest to scholars in the humanities and social sciences today.

 The W-80 Warhead
There are some differences in the design of the fission primary (different grades of plutonium used, some differences in the high explosive assembly), and in the mounting and installation hardware for the different cruise missile bodies, but in little else.
The W-80 is the warhead used on the three cruise missiles currently in the U.S. arsenal - the Mod 0 with the SLCM (sea launched cruise missile), the Mod 1 with the ALCM (air launched cruise missile) and the ACM (advanced cruise missile, an air launched weapon incorporating stealth technology).
Since the ALCM is carried externally at high altitudes for inter-continental delivery, it is subjected to sub-freezing temperatures for long periods of time.
