		AMC's chronic lack of development dollars meant the new car had to be cobbled together from existing parts.
		Eagles were classified as light-duty commercial vehicles- and thus weren't required to meet passenger-car bumper regulations.

		The AMC Eagle was produced by the former American Motors Corporation, introduced for the 1980 model year and based on the AMC Concord range.
		At the time, the Eagle was a logical extension to the Concord range: since AMC made Jeeps it made sense to combine off-road technology with a passenger car range.
		Unlike the later cars, the Eagle was available as a 'Kammback', essentially a three-door hatchback with a very vertical tailgate; a four-door sedan, a five-door station wagon, and a three-door fastback topping the range with an SX/4 variant.

		The AMC came standard with a 4.2L (258 cubic inch) I6 engine with a 2-barrel Carter Carburetor, this engine produced 112hp at around 4000rpm and 210-lb/ft torque at around 1500rpm.

		After Chrysler Corporation acquired American Motors Corporation, a subsidiary was formed, these cars would now be known as the brand name Eagle, named after the AMC Eagle, which happened to be the last AMC produced vehicle.

		From there it's somewhat unclear who owned it exactly, but in the spring of 1995 it was being advertised in the local Want Ad Digest for $300.
		The Eagle was an adequate, but not wonderful replacement for the Chevy Suburban we had used to tow our boat.
